Quick question! Our interview was passed Thursday the 18th, updated to administrative processing the next day. How long should I wait before contracting the embassy to check? Not sure whats the normal time frame

On our appointment paper work it says it takes our embassy 5-15 days to get the visa and passport back.

Has anyone been able to schedule interview at US consulate in Lagos, Nigeria recently?. I've been trying to schedule for the past 48 hours but all I get is "no available appointments". What is the best time to check the website?

Wow we just had the question asked last week and it was for the same Embassy. Isn't that a hoot. So here is the answer there are no interview dates for Nigeria at this time. They are hard to come by and there isn't anyone who can tell you when they will be available. You need to check the website throughout the day for changes/cancellations. If someone cancels (yes Maggy they do cancel their appointments) then grap their appointment slot.

I'm going to give you a tool that you may want to try. This little software tool was used to get appointments during the expedited Typhoon Yolanda Philippine applicants when there were no appointments showing, and when one appeared it was snapped up pretty fast.  So, others began using this little gem and were able to get appointments faster than others. Keep in mind this is about 5 years ago so your mileage may vary.

I recommend using c4c (check4change at http://www.check4change.com/ ) with a refreshing window every 4 seconds from the dashboard using custom menu of c4c to nab an appointment that comes available.  The software will check for any changes on the website for the time you choose to set. I used 4 seconds.

If you do not have Firefox installed you can get a copy here for free: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/  Yes, install Firefox just to use c4c coz the add-on for Chrome and Internet Explore (IE) didn't really work that well. I tried them on a test website before using it grab a new date or for some any date, just to see how the add on works.

My laptop was on all night long every night for the last 4 nights, it got me up couple times but the dates didn't fit my scheduling. Soon as there is a change on the scheduling website the music will start and you can book it if you like the date. With this system the booking process is 10 seconds from the time a new date is available. Just push continue, the calendar will appear, select the date you want and click "schedule". And now you have a interview date scheduled.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your help.  I've been searching several forums for answers with no luck. I try not to post every question here.

@Greenbaum

Hello everyone. Anyone that can help with this question.

So my grandmother wants to  co sponser me since I am studing aboard and unemployed  my grandmother is on social security and lives by herself . Just on her social security she makes less than the poverty line. She had a job and with that job she made more than the poverty line.  But she just quit her job last month because of sickness.

On the p4 for the embassy in Nicaragua it just asks for taxes from last year.

Do you think my grandmother can still co sponsor?

Attached is the what I am informed I or my Co sponser needs to earn yearly.

This is going to be a tuff sell. You need to hope that the Embassy doesn't ask for financials as I think you have a "weak" financial case. If you have all of these I think you will have a good chance.

1. That you will be graduating and your degree will command a salary that will support the two of you above the poverty level.

2. That the Embassy doesn't look at financials like some Embassy's don't.

3. That your Grandmother has real estate and savings that is 5 times the household income.

I'm not going to blow smoke and tell you that you have this in the bag with an approval. I tend to be a realist and that is how I answer questions.

You need to find someone from Nicaragua and ask them if during their interview were they asked to submit financials that the CO reviewed. That will give you what we need to hear.

You can start the process there in the Philippines now that you have your case number. You do not have to wait for the case to be set to ready at USEM. Everything is contained in the links below.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get done. To smooth that trail for you I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course, it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps, he includes the what, when and why to complete the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next, you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like-minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread is processing through another country they would be hard-pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience.

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Good luck and God's speed.
