That is strange and confusing - I'm assuming that "8 weeks" message is a generic reply they send to both CR-1 and K1's? To clarify, the instructions they will send me is for CR-1 aka advising me to fill out i-864, but I'm actually going to fill out i-134? (Montreal instructions state i-134 then i-864 when we apply for AOS)

Thank you @Greenbaum🙏

Well, since the reply's are based on immigrant or non-immigrant visas there in lies the problem from what I stated above. So they hit the button for your status which is "immigrant" and so you get immigrant information when in fact you are a non-immigrant with immigrant intentions. Oy Vey. Have I confused you yet. Sorry. Just ignore those that seem strange to you. Fill out the I-134. I-864 is for AOS. (CR-1 are all ready married so they fill out the I-864 because they will get a green card shortly after they arrive on American soil).

I asked this question in the London forum a few days ago but haven’t had an responses yet.

For anyone interviewing at the London embassy, what’s the wait time for interviews at the moment? I have my medical booked for 5th September but my case is still at NVC so can’t book my interview yet ☹️ I’m assuming it won’t be leaving NVC until 7th August now.

Do you think I can already Fill in the DS-160 without having a case number?

You can complete the DS-160 at anytime and there is no expiration date but there is a date that it must be completed by and that is the interview or what your Embassy requires. Most Embassy's don't care when it gets done but some Embassy's require it to be completed as part of the preparation paperwork that is returned to your Embassy. That's what is tricky. If your in a thread like this one, where everyone is from different country's which has different requirements then you could get the wrong answer. So it's best to go to the sub-forum for your country. Go to the top of this page. Choose the "forum" tab and then scroll 3/4 of the way down the page to see country specific sub-forums.

The DS - 160 is a document that stands on it's own. It does not affect anything. It does not need to be finished to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between now and the day before your interview. You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use if for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case.

Here is my advice. As a couple you work together answering the questions. Once you are complete and you believe it's ready STOP! Now, each of you look through the copy that is ready to be submitted. Look for blanks or unanswered questions, look for spelling errors and look at dates. Once BOTH are satisfied then the beneficiary is the one to take the oath and submit the document in their country

Can someone please advise how the  beneficiary updates their address?

Can the petitioner do it when they call the NVC to get the case number?

Usually beneficiary don't need to update their mailing address. In our case...we had an email send to petitioner and beneficiary from NVC and the embassy.  The beneficiary can provide their address in the DS-160 when it comes to this. Hope this helps

Usually around 2 weeks to receive it at NVC, but I suggest to start calling Monday and Friday the first 2 weeks, after 6pm. After that every day, lol. They would have opened the mail by then. As i understand it. They still send the files physically, not just by email alone.

I've dug around a bit on this thread and others but haven't found my answer--though I'm sure it exists somewhere!

I'm the petitioner and I received the NOA2 8/16. My partner has changed addresses since we filed, so I immediately contacted NVC by email to inform them of the address change. Yesterday they replied saying they had no record of our case, cases can take up to 6 weeks to reach them, blah blah blah.

I was trying to be proactive in doing this address change, but now i'm wondering what to do. Do I just keep contacting them every couple of days hoping they've received it? My understanding is that as soon as NVC receives our case, they will send a letter to the beneficiary with next steps for their home embassy. I just don't want this letter to go unreceived if we don't get the address changed before they process it.
