Finally, this story is getting a bit of press

And even (I am glad about this one - we need more conservative voices on this)

I am not Yemeni, or even the same culture/ethnicity as any of these people. I actually am not even a very empathetic person. But If I have to send my kids back to a warzone because I ran out of money when they were so close to being rescued, I dont know what I would do. Not saying suicide is the answer, but I can understand what this guy might be going through.

I didnt care too much about the ban - ban everyone under the sun - students, visitors, academics, artists, businessmen, All of those people can take their money/talent and spend it elsewhere.  Heck even ban parents, brothers and sisters - thats just an inconvenience.  But indefinitely barring spouses and kids - with no guidance/process/clarity on the future? That is just cruel.

The fact thats completely bonkers about this thing is - and often gets lost in the noise, is they have not banned student visas for some of these countries. It like saying we can vet these countries F1 students, but not spouses and kids of US Citizens. So essentially, If you are a F1 student from these countries, you can bring your spouse and kids. But if you are a US CITIZEN, you cannot.

//end rant

Don't we hear stories of people getting denied visas all the time regardless of a ban related to countries that don't cooperate with the processes of the US State Department?  Yemen is at least somewhat open where people can leave to get to a country that has a US Consulate, what does someone do from the DPRK that cannot even leave their country.  This guy had some serious psychological issues deciding to take his own life and doing great harm to his family for years to come.  There are always other options, but I guess it is all the fault of the US and the current occupant of the WH.  We make our own life choices and must take responsibility for them.

suicide is the ultimate selfish act isnt it

Except that the person committing suicide actually sees it as the ultimate selfless act. In his mind he is ridding the world of a useless piece of poo that is only a burder to others.

Never ever downplay depression or suicide.

Yeah that is why Euthanasia in the Netherlands has gone way over board and killing off pretty much anyone... And this comes from someone who is pro-euthanasia by the way.

Sure, blame the Dutch? I've never in my whole life heard of a single case of euthanasia (with the exception of heavily applied morphine in dying people to ease their suffering and speeding their passing).

If I'm not mistaken it takes the express authorization of three physicians to end a patients life after unbearable suffering has been proven.
