USCIS received our case, what next?

Hi everybody! We got an email from USCIS that they have received our case; Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), on May 9th and provided us the Receipt number.

What would be the next step after this? Do we get any other receipt numbers etc. or this the only number we track our case until approval?

And if they have every paper they need there, is the interview the next step or do we have to do something before that?

Thousands thanks for all of you for your help! :)

There's a thread for May 2018 filers here:

But we're all in the slowest part of the process right now. Between NOA1 (notification that your petition was received) and NOA2 (notification that it was approved) is averaging about 7 months at this time (so most of the approvals happening currently are from December with a few from November and January).

Congratulations!  There is nothing else that you need to do for now.   You just wait for something called a NOA2.  We got ours  approved yesterday.

Thank you so much, everyone!

you talk to each and make sure the benefcary is aware of every aspect of your life in the USA so he /she can answer the CO  properly

patience is needed as u will hear nothing for months

as bottom of receipt says "do not contact them, the person answering calls knows nothing about your case

read the portal from drop down box above on your country paying attention to the embassy reviews and posts from others in same boat as u

good luck

and dont make the same mistakes we see on the TV show

"90 day finance"

as those people did not take the time to know finance and what they were getting into

Hello729,

Congrats on getting your NOA2!  If you don't mind my asking, when did you file your petition?  Ours was received by USCIS in Sept. 2017 and we are still waiting (11 months and counting).  Last I heard was when i contacted them in May to inquire why the petition was outside their posted timeframe and the response i got back was "held up by security checks".

Thank you so much, everyone!
