We showed up with our kids at the courthouse at 9:40am.  Even though the letter said 10 am but the actual ceremony didn’t happen until 11 am.  All the petitioners were lined up to surrender our green cards, be seated and had a small presentation from USCIS officer about what to do after becomes citizen.  Friends and family joined in before the judge showed up and we started to have opening remarks, music rendition, guest talk, take oath of allegiance (they have it in the booklet), pledge of allegiance, and lastly we got to introduce ourselves in front of everyone before picking up our naturalization certificate.  There were 44 people (1 was actually absent) in 19 countries got sworn in today. I got to say thank you to my family which was the most emotional and special to me.  We stayed behind to take pictures with the judge and the flag after the ceremony.   The most exciting moment for my kids was probably when they found out there were cookies and fruit punch outside waiting for them.  The whole ceremony including check-in lasted about 2 hours.  There was voting booth outside for registration but we were in a hurry for next appointment - passport. We scheduled it online as soon as we got the ceremony letter, and the post office needed the original certificate so I only got to take a picture of it before handing it off. 

 

Here I’m still can’t believe its done.  It was so much faster than I expected but it’s probably because where I’m at. Fingers crossed to all of you to have your interview dates very soon.  Good luck to everyone with this journey and I’ll come back to check up on you guys status and rooting for my Aug filers!

 

Finally if someone can help me to change my name and timeline into red font it will be greatly appreciated!  I still don’t know how to do it 🤣!

I googled the address on my husband's interview letter and searched for "naturalization ceremonies". Up popped a list of all the naturalization ceremonies scheduled in the state for the next year. We're in KS City; not sure if others have them or not.

My husband got his n400 appointment letter,but there was no mention of a joint interview for the 1-751. Dare we assume that they meant to include it? I'm planning to attend with him and bring our massive stack of matrimonial paperwork just in case, figuring the worst thing they could do is not look at it. 

 

Is he likely to get a second appointment for the I-751 interview?

Two scenarios:

1- They interview him (both of you if that matter) for N400 and i751 and approve him for both, so yes PLEASE take all the documents with you.

2- They only interview him for the N400, approve him (e-notification will say a decision couldn't be made due to pending i751) and postpone his oath ceremony till after the approval of his i751. I've read over VJ that this usually happens within 30 days after his N400 is approved.

Your husband should definitely ask to get joint interviews once he is with the IO, specially that you're gonna be there.

 

Which decision will they take depends mainly on the field office and its capability of approving a mail in form (i751) on the spot.

You can get a better idea if you find a similar case at the same field office and see how it was handled.

So, this happened while on the phone with my husband.. 

I am scared to get excited and it end up being a glitch. The USCIS website didn’t update yet and my I-751 sent in 9/2017 is still pending. I was really losing hope and I hope that the interview will be very soon. 

The timeframe for the N400 was estimated at 20months (17 now, April 2020)

Update: He got a second letter today; the interview for removal of conditions. It's the same date as the citizenship appt. Woohoo! Just one appt, then!

 

 

Then the oath ceremony, wait for passport hen SHRED ALL THIS MARRIAGE PROOF!!!!!!!!! and get my file cabinet back!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!

Good evening!

 

I hope you guys have a nice week so far.  I'm back to report that my passport has arrived today!  I had my passport appointment at the same day of my ceremony and have my passport in hand in less than 2 weeks (regular speed).  I'm very pleased with how fast they get everything done and seeing more interviews got scheduled in this thread makes me happy.  Keep all the great news coming.

I completed my interview today. The notice says it is a N-400 interview but I brought my wife along with me just in case the IO wanted to interview us together since we also have a pending I-751. When we started the IO said that we will be doing a joint I-751 so he will have my wife stay with me for that part and when he is ready to move on to the N-400 he will walk her out. The IO mentioned that local offices do not typically process I-751 since it is a completed at the Service Centers but he said since there is a backlog and he cannot proceed with the N-400 he will be doing both. 

 

We proceeded with the I-751 and once completed we moved on to my N-400 without my wife. All the questions were routine and nothing out of the ordinary. We went through some of my infractions and evidences and updated my application with travel info since I applied for N-400. At the end he told me that I passed my test and he will be recommending both my application for approval. The I-751 will need to be electronically transferred to my local office before he approves it and the N-400 will be approved after he can have a second officer review it. He said that N-400 are normally reviewed by two people to avoid mistakes. 

 

My field office has an oath ceremony every week and he said the next available one will be in Jan'19. But he said to hang tight and monitor my progress online for the approval.

Hello fellow August N400 filers, I'm just wondering if there's anyone outhere with San Jose,Ca field office that recently got their interview notice it's been over 3 months since I did biometrics and I haven't heard anything since all I get is e-mails saying we are still processing your case and there are no updates at this time, I've received like 6 of those useless emails in the last 3 months I feel like they are just playing with my feelings with those nonsense emails🤔,thanks everyone any feedback will be greatly appreciated 🤗

Hello there, I’m not in San Jose, but I’m out of Chicago and I filed August 26th and I have gotten those darn no update emails for about 7 or 8 time. It sucks. Mine I’m looking at 11 more months. They love playing with us. Good luck hopefully soon. Anyone from Chicago field office get interview or in line. Inquiring minds want to know lol.
