Hello everyone,

I am just done with my interview and it lasted for 45 minutes. Interview at 2.30 pm today till 3:30. At 4 pm I got an update that my application is in initial review status. What does that mean. Did anyone go through the same status after interview.

This is the standard response for Baltimore. I had the same response. I think the interview went well the IO didnt ask that many questions. A couple of people that I know are still waiting for their decisions as well, one of them has been waiting for 8 months. I guess Baltimore is just super backlogged.

Just had our interview this morning! We were approved on the spot. Our appt was at the Long Island, NY Holtsville office at 10:30am, so we got there at 10am but we weren’t called until around 12pm. The interview went well, we had some laughs with the IO, especially when we talked about how my husband proposed. He told us right away that we’ve submitted enough paperwork for him to review but asked if we had any additional docs. I gave him copies of the docs stated in the interview notice with tabs and all. He asked who’s the organizer and that he was glad everything was in order. We were still a bit nervous but he was very pleasant and made a few jokes and some irrelevant small talk here and there.

He asked my husband (petitioner) his full name, dob & where he works. Asked him when we got married and how he planned on popping the question. My husband explained how he proposed and I added a few details from my perspective on the proposal. He asked us how we met and when we met in person (we met online).

The IO asked me how I got here, answered that I was on F-1 student visa and I went to law school here. He asked where I worked. He also asked if I was born in the US because for some reason he thought I was. He then went through the usual yes/no questions.

He asked us if we had any questions, I asked him about the result and he said we were approved. He explained that we probably will get the notice in the mail in 30-45 days and not to call in and ask about status until after the 45 days is done because they’re very backlogged.

Wishing everyone else good luck on their journey! Very thankful for everyone on here because I wouldn’t have felt as prepared as I was if not for this forum!

My AOS/EAD/AP timeline:

10/12/18: EAD Card status changed to "Card was mailed to me"

10/13/18: EAD Card Approval Notice dated 10/10/18 received in mail

10/13/18: AP Approval Notice dated 10/10/18 received in mail
