My senator's office was absolutely unhelpful. Despite the fact that many cases after mine and in December now have been approved, they refuse to do anything until the USCIS Inquiry Date passes... I hope your offices are more helpful than mine. I shouldn't be surprised. In Illinois, politics is pay for play.

I called USCIS twice last week and asked help from our Congressman's office as well. The immigration specialist sent them an inquiry and she said to give it some time for USCIS to review her inquiry. I called USCIS an hour ago and talked to a very nice officer. He asked if this was my 1st time calling them for an update and I told him no, I called them last week as well since waiting is making me so anxious and depressed. He had to ask some info to verify that I am the petitioner and told me that "Some cases are placed in a box and they are assigned to different adjudicators. The reason some cases after you are approved is that some work faster than the others. I don't see anything wrong with your case, everything is fine and they are still processing it. You are still in the normal processing time. Give it until June 16th."

I hope whoever is our case assigned to will work on our cases quick. It is very good news looking at all these approvals of cases filed after us but so depressing that we are still waiting. Don't get me wrong for those who got their approvals, it is just sad that we are being left behind 😔😞😓

I also live in Chicago Illinois ( Lincoln Park). The local congressman is Mike Quigley ( Democrat). I had emailed them last week Friday so far no response. I might just go to the office straight, it like walking distance from where I live. Let's see what happens.

Update: After some back and forth, they've agreed to go ahead and submit an inquiry! I just need to send them a copy of my I-797 tonight for some reason, but I'm glad they agreed to look into it!

Oh no! I hope that isn't a Midwest way of thinking  I live in Missouri so if I do end up needing to contact my representative I hope that he is able to help more than yours was.

I think it will depend of the senator or congressman. My fiance contacted his on Friday (mississippi) and we sent some forms that he asked and today he already answer saying that he opened an congressional inquiry with USCIS and he was waiting for their reply. I was afraid cause he is anti-immigration but at least he got in touch with uscis right away. I dont know if that will work but at least we tried.

I hope it does for your sake. Even with the congressman being anti-immigration he'll probably be more lenient because you're going through the proper channels to move here.

I decided I wanted to be really annoying, so outside of contacting congress last week, over this past weekend I sent a case inquiry to USCIS through their website (the link to it is wherever you see your case status), and said in the comment area I wanted to know why they’ve started December but have barely touched half of November 1-16, and there are many of us waiting for approval from early November.

My congresswoman’s office has been helpful. Her rep reached out to me today to confirm that I got my petition approval and said to keep her in the loop when it reaches NVC. It’s nice to have that support through the end.

Have you tried congress @x_driven_x ? I’m sorry the senate office isn’t being helpful.

Hi,

I'm in Texas as well. Houston to be exact.

How do you know who to contact? Would I be able to contact the same person you did or does it vary by location within Texas?

How did you go about calling them? Did you just cold call her office?

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to do it properly and correctly the first time around.

Any guidance would help greatly, thanks!

Sorry, just noticed you're in Maine and not in TX. I saw the Lewisville part first and jumped the gun before realizing.

You can find your representative here:
https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

Once you find them, you should be able to follow a link to their contact page where they will give you a few different ways to contact them.

I actually emailed their office, as that was one of the ways they suggested contacting. If you cannot email, try writing a very nice and smart letter explaining in a maximum of two paragraphs how you met, your current situation (i.e., when you first filed, how long you've been waiting), and urge them to inquire on your behalf. Say your many thank you's, and leave all your contact information. They should then send you a form to fill out that gives them permission to inquire after your file.  PM if you need more specific help going through it.

Thanks a bunch!

It looks like my representative's contact information consists of a form you fill out online so I'll just put together a message and paste it into the form and see what happens.

@rrobin0609 Have you contacted anyone yet? Like senator or congressman? I'm in Missouri also is why I ask.

I called and talked to USCIS just now... and although she was super nice. She didn't give any positive information. She tried to fill out an inquiry for being "outside of normal processing time" (our NOA1 is Nov 2nd) and the system wouldn't allow her to do so because according to the CSC office they are only processing Oct 1st currently 😐. (Even though she stated herself we were outside the normal processing time of 7 months once she heard my NOA1 date.)  She informed me if I don't hear anything I can call back in 45 days. 😣

Sooo I'm thinking contacting my congressman would maybe help?
