My fiancé and I are working on our packet. Currently, we are still gathering evidences and so far we have accrued enough from our recent vacation together. Now I pretty much have most of what we need to get the ball rolling. Let's get down to the nitty gritty stuff, my fiancé proposed to me second quarter of 2017, together, we bought the ring in Manila, he paid it in cash we got the ring and the rest is history. Earlier as I was thumbing through the files, it came to my attention that the engagement ring''s receipt doesn't have my fiancés name on it, and was sold under my name instead. At the time being, it never came to me as an issue or is it not? Would this cause the reviewing officer to raise an eyebrow as the officer might think I bought the ring myself for myself? I know the question's somewhat ludicrous but I just wanted to be careful with the stuff I'm sending. Need opinion/advice on this. Thank you so much in advance.

There is no requirement to have an engagement ring.  Don't worry about that.  Concentrate on other quality evidence regarding your relationship.

Engagement ring receipt is not a high priority. It being in your name shouldn't be an issue either because the logic can be as easy as 'it would be easier to prove one's identity if item needs to be exchanged or returned'. My wedding set was purchased in my home country using my credit card for that very reason but I did have a PayPal transaction history to show that my then fiancé sent me the amount that I had paid for. Agree with @missileman to focus on other quality evidence.

We had a photocopy of the receipt of the engagement ring in our I-129f package. It didn't have any names on it since we bought it at the store. As the others have mentioned, its not that necessary. We also had photos and multiple airline tickets to show the validity of our relationship, and the letters of intent, of course.

My view regarding the proof of in-person meetings showing the validity of the relationship, if you think about it, all that can be forged, including photos. Our thinking with the evidence that we provided was to show the story of our relationship...and I think that's what the people at the USCIS will be looking for i.e. to get a feeling based on the evidence provided. There seems to be enough checks and balances with the background checks and the interview and at the POE, that fraudulent evidence should be caught. Basically, I think what I'm saying is that its ok to include your engagement ring receipt even if it doesn't have your name on it, as long as you have other evidence too like photos, tickets, the letters of intent etc that show the story of your relationship. We also typed up chronological list of events in our relationship.

Realistically at I-129F level, there is no need for relationship evidence at all, simply proof that you've met in the last 2 years and declaration that you're free to and intend to marry within the 90 day period allowed.

I think (and I include myself in this) that people can't see the forest for the trees when doing the application and get caught up on "front loading" the application.   I know several couples who submitted nothing but intent to marry and proof they'd met within 2 years and who brought less than 10 pages of 'evidence' to Interview and all got approved with zero issues/RFEs or whatever.

Like a lot of answers in VJ, the first qualifier is "it depends on the country."  The  Philippines does have a higher rate of fraud and I have read posts of the consulate requiring more to be satisfied for approval.

I used to think that front loading was only for convenience, but I realized it can be crucial for some countries.  The reason being a rejected application gets returned to USCIS for review to affirm or remand it back to the consulate, based on what's in the file.  Many posters say that they brought evidence to the interview that clarified what was in doubt, but not taken by the CO.  So, it gets sent back and has to be appealed.  That's why now I would advise anyone to front load their petitions enough that it can stand alone for an approval, despite a bad CO.

This might have been true 10 or more years ago(being high fraud), but now I think you can easily get by with just what they are asking. I disagree about having to require more to satisfy for approval, my wife and I did the minimum and had no issues. It really just depends on each case and what you should provide though.

Of course it won't make or break the decision of the interview but really people get caught up on things that aren't really relevant to the process. It's been gone over and over on here that just a small amount of pictures, evidence of meeting for the required 2 year timeline and of course knowing your significant others background are most important.

I am basing it on what I've read over the last year.  People have posted having rough interviews in certain countries, including the Philippines. The most recent example was someone in the Philippines had visited their fiancé, and they wanted proof of who paid the ticket.

If you have better info indicating all visas are granted for the asking, then you may submit a bare minimum request.  Not saying it can't happen, but people have been posting quite different experiences.
