Yesterday I received my welcome letter so today I paid the AOS fee, and the IV fee is also available to pay, it says pay now. Is there any reason for me to pay that fee later? I see others timeline and it takes like 1 week to that IV fee.

I am a regular case and it took 3 weeks to get the case number. I had it sent to a supervisor twice in that time.

What is regular/ normal/pivot case?

no there is no reason to pay late, usually pay as soon as its open ,

for  some people that IV fee unlocks   like 3-7 days AFTER they Submit DS-261 online , while AOS  Fee is unlocked faster

Hi can someone please tell me what is the difference between a pivot and regular case?

@Harmeet Kaur @begeorge  pivot cases are the cases that are required to do electronic submission.  It is supposedly faster.  Please refer to:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-6-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html

Pivot cases are those submitting documents using Method 1.

hm not sure but i wont be there with my spouse in islamabad embassy. i guess u can ask visa people if ur embassy will require for u to be there or not...im sure they know it doesnt make sense for spouse to spend thousands of dollars just to attend interview especially since all questions will be directed towards beneficiary....

ok good to know. so i guess send whole application even if last pages dont apply to u

I’m not sure about the DR but I’m glad I attended with my spouse yesterday at Islamabad because we were both interviewed separately. I have a feeling if I wasn’t there that we would’ve been denied but we got approved. Just have to send in the correct size passport photos and they said they would start processing his visa.

yeah i will have a lot of blank pages in i864 is it better to leave blank or write N/A. the wiki site said to write N/A since they said people get checklist thinking they skipped or didnt answer....

I wrote N/A on everything that didn’t pertain to me and I received a CC with no checklist.

What is coming next? Do they constantly send notifications to the agent when next setp should be done?

I understand the SD is scan date, is that when you send trough mail the documents and NVC scan them on the system?

What is the check list? I already received one on the welcome letter but I see that next on everybodys time line.

You need to fill DS-261 (agent selection), pay AOS fee, pay IV fee and send the packages to NVC

Scan date is the date NVC scans these documents on their system.

If they find any issues/missing documents or details that are necessary, they'll send a checklist asking for the same. Sometimes it need not be sent at that point of time, you just need to carry it at the time of your interview.
