That it true, I only have flown Southwest domestically and don't know the country they are travelling but it has always been immigration that has checked my visas and passport when I have traveled. So frustrating, I got the run around last time I traveled on southwest with my name change when I called them as well. Luckily it worked out but I was given false information on the phone when I called about my name change.

PS: I do still love flying Southwest.. best cancellation policy.

Exactly I love them as well so I will give southwest a call and just bring everything tomorrow.

You are right, they are not immigration but they can refuse boarding to a flight.

Yes. This happened to my husband when he was flying home from Cancun using his AP card.  The airline was not familiar with the ap/combo card and would not issue a boarding pass.

Also Southwest is not immigration. It would be up to the immigration officers to let you back into the country not the southwest agent??

Our AP/EAD combo card came on nothing special. I did save it and just saw it this morning in preparation for our interview but maybe they are thinking of AP papers when its not a card?

While the airline is not immigration they are the one who transports you to immigration and they can most certainly deny you a boarding pass if they don’t believe you have proper documentation to enter the county even if you have what you need.

You should be fine with all that. When I traveled from Argentina to Miami few years ago on my EAD/AP combo card,  I showed the check-in American Airlines employee my card and she took it and showed it to the employee that was being trained by her. I remember she said  to the other employee "Look, this is how it looks the new Work /AP permit". She did not ask me for any other document just my passport. I was very surprised that she recognized the combo card.

Hey Everyone!! My husband and I was due to travel today and he has his combo ead/advance parole card. The airline requested that we bring the paper it came with so he can come back into the United States. I'm confused because I thought if you have your card you are safe to travel. Then when I called Southwest they dont know what paper Im suppose to bring can anybody tell me which one cause I have alot of papers I dont know which one.

Hey! Probably Southwest means the paper you get if you do the EAD and AP separately. In my case, I did it separately and I got 2 papers with my picture on it along with other information. The 2 papers were supposed to be stamped when I came back to the US after my exams and one was supposed to be kept by the officer and the other one was supposed to be a copy for me.

I am saying "was" because in my case, when I applied for the AP, I said I needed the AP to attend 2 times this year my exams. When they sent me 2 papers (exact same look) I thought I was supposed to use one for one trip and the other for the next trip..well, it was not like that haha. They ended up making a photocopy of the paper and telling me that the other copy was supposed to be for me.

Well yes but the paper isn't always issued. If you apply for EAD & AP at the same time you ideally get the combo card.

If they give you trouble again I'd ask for a supervisor. They have to be trained on the combo card and let you board... with all those scandals going around with airlines I'd even be tempted to contact a media outlet since it caused you a lot of trouble, time and probably money.

All of us who apply for AP separately get two AP-documents, even those of us who have no clear plans to actually use them but only applied because it was for free and to have the AP "just in case". CBP don't take them from you.

It was on a Saturday so I was unable to call anyone at USCIS or the embassy.  We were taken into a back room in the cancun airport and security and the "manager from the airline was telling us my husband didn't have the right paperwork and that he needed to produce either a green card or "travel papers".   When we tried to show them where it says on the Combo card serves as AP for travel they told us that was no good.  I used my phone to long onto the USCIS website to show them where it said the Combo card was now being issued for travel.  They still would not budge.  I finally begged them to call the frontier airlines in kansas city where we were trying to get home to and speak to a manager there.  The manager  spoke to a CBP officer who verified it was the proper documentation.  This took over 3 hours and    In the meantime the flight had finished boarding and we lost our seats.  When we finally got back to kansas city the CPB officer told us that there really wasn't anything we could have done differently.   We made a complaint to frontier airlines about their employees not being educated on the updated travel card.  I was sent an unapologetic letter explaining how the airline has the right to refuse to transport anyone they believe may not be admitted into the country and they stood by their decision to handle the situation as it was.

Yep, I got 2 AP documents (which I thought that I had to use them for both of my trips that I stated when I filed for the AP). Actually, the CBP does take 1 copy and the other one is supposed to be stamped as well and give it to you back "so you have a copy". That's actually what they did to me last month when I left for 6 days and came back with the paper. When I arrived to Seattle Airport and went through the CBP, they sent me to secondary to "process me" into the country. Once they started doing it and I explained why I didn't have both, they told me that USCIS sends always 2 copies because 1 is supposed to be kept by the CBP and the other is supposed to be given back to me as "proof" of being processed into the country (even if they stamped my passport as well).

Since I told them that my copy was left at home because I assumed I had to use it for my next trip, they took their copy and made a photocopy for me so I would not leave without a "proof".
