If you're going to make an outrageous generalizing and unverified statement about people from a country that come here for the same reason as any other immigrant does, then it's beyond belief why I should have to provide research on a subject that is a no-brainer, because nothing I provide will be good enough for you. What was provided to you by another poster wasn't good enough either. Is your spouse an entrepreneur and should they be given a special pass if they aren't, just because they come from a country you decide is okay?

If I say the earth is flat and hollow, does it make it true?

You took my comment to smilesammich out of context, and tried to use it against me by touting the (allegedly) large numbers of successful business people form Haiti.  Then you tried to turn it into a spouse or family visa matter, which is not what was being talked about.  I used that particular country because she referenced Trump, and we all know that Haiti was one of those SH nations referred to here for a few days.

I have no issue with anyone from Haiti coming here any more than any other nation.  But when you are willing to open up your borders, as smilesammich evidently is, to anyone out there who wants to come in, then NB is correct, in 5 years or so, we will become a third world country.  The days of just letting in anyone who wants to leave their crappy country behind are behind us.  That might have been a good plan when the US needed to be populated to become a great nation.  That is no longer true, in my opinion.  We can afford to be picky, and we should.

As for Haiti in general, I think the US has given more than our fair share of aid in the past few years.  If a person immigrates here via marriage, there is nothing wrong with that, no different than any of our spouses.  If we are talking the DV lottery, or something similar, then I am against it, just as I am chain migration.  Which the OP started out the thread with by saying it is racist, but later recanted and said it can’t be, becau se we are talking about it here.    Flip flops for everyone.

And even BCKing’s link above proves that Haiti is almost dead last when it comes to entrepreneurship, as measured in his link.  Doesn’t mean someone can’t rise above it and do good.  But it means they will face an uphill battle all the way.  Because of the fact that their country is what it is.

Generally yes I agree, and if it took anything more than the first 2 links of my google search I would have asked for the source as well. I'm not going to spend time digging for information on something someone else has claimed. A single google search takes me around 5 seconds though.

On a internet forum, having a discussion...I think it is reasonable if your "source" is the top search result from google...you can simply ask the person to google the topic ("Haitian Entrepreneur")

It honestly is just a minor thing. I just provided the links for you to see, since you didn't seem to want to use google yourself. The conversation can continue to move forward. I just like providing sources :)

FAMILY REUNIFICATION HAHA ! You know what I call family reunification, American Airlines, you go and VISIT your family . Not move your whole village over that has no merit or reason to be here other then being part of a CHAIN. Its a really good word for it actually its like a chain, and just sponsoring your siblings is not the end of that chain. Once they are citizens including the spouse that has joined that sibling for example who had nothing to do with the anchor immigrant in the first place technically that spouse can eventually sponsor the parents. Its so crazy when you think about it . So no the family reunification is a very inaccurate word for it. Chain migration is a word that explains most of the issue also at the same time and a  lot of people will grasp the core concept quickly . Family reunification sounds like something I heard in germany when families where separated by the wall and then finally got reunified after the wall came down .

@smilesammich I know all the lefties including you are so obsessed about the norway comment but if you think about the proposal really quick or just look it up ( Trumps immigration plan ) you will quickly realize he didnt carve like a special law for norwegians brining over there parents in terms of chain migration . No everyone will be exempt . No country doesn't matter white, brown, black will be allowed to use it. And I know you know that deep down but it just sounds more emotional to say what you said and it creates drama out of every thing trump does which is completely unnecessary but I know you guys love that, so its one of those things.

Yes guys Haiti and for example El salvador are indeed 3 world countries and you can also refer to them as something else. Do you have a chain migration pipeline with currently 4m+ people going into Haiti or El Salvador or is that to the USA. Haiti had a tough history but that is no excuse for whats going on right now. At the core the region (south and central america) is very corrupt. And dont give me that "Oh america invaded all of those places and they could never recover" . Ever talked to a brazilian for example they will tell you a lot about corruption thats destroying this country in fact they impeached a sitting president for that just recently . The USA had nothing to do with that nor am I aware of any occupation of the USA in Brazil .

When you visit those places everyone is corrupt from the core. Its the personality too.

Good night guys.

Also the title is referring to DACA because in the show they were talking about DACA and about not including them in chain migration . Basically not allowing there parents to be sponsored once they are citizens.

Now the whole time the democrats where like . These are young kids (most are old now) , who came here no fault of there own and they parents brought them in so its not a crime because they couldn't consent. Ok got that, kinda makes sense although because illegal presence is not considered to be included in crimes that can be forgotten over the years that is debatable but lets leave it at that.

NOW you have all the democrats like Sen. Durbin and the gang of amnesty propose for the parents to get lifelong EAD/AP . That is big reason this deal failed and government was shut down . Now that they shifted the debate to give them amnesty they want to include all the parents as well that did commit the CRIME ! We are a country of laws and we dont reward criminal behavior . Otherwise we will end up like the places those DACA people mostly came from . Which they dont even want to go back to so .

Yes no chain migration for DACA obviously its a no brainer. What kind of message is that going to send to would be illegal immigrants ? They know eventually the USA will fold and give them amnesty . They are proven right by history so why would that stop . You can only stop illegal immigration if you are tough about it.

Good night guys.

I think the corruption in CA and SA stems from the socialist revolutions that occurred in many of the countries down there.  Most folks understand how socialism corrupts.

i'm not obsessed with any one particular comment, its all the racist comments trump's made lumped together in addition to his white supremacist fan club. personally i have no issue with people from any country going about immigration for themselves or family in a legal manner. from where i sit, the obsession is occuring in those who want to specify what countries are 'worthy' of living in the u.s.

i actually haven't seen anything regarding how 'bad' our country is since trump was elected. plenty about how bad trump is as a human being let alone president. but i knew all that before he even ran for president.

last time i checked, there was nothing wrong with disliking a president. it's not like people's hatred of him just appeared out of thin air - some sort of phenomenon. trump thrives off his haters - he stokes his haters, the natural consequence is that people hate him. that's the thing with trump that i've noticed anyway - there aren't too many people that are undecided on how they feel about trump.

I wish that was the case for the past eight years.  Of course in that case if you disliked the president you were labeled something else by the MDL and their biased media buddies.  However, I disagree, the hatred for Trump ramped up significantly when he ran as a GOP candidate and actually had the audacity to win.  We all know how much the DNC will do to stay in power, so they needed to start a campaign of hatred.  Personally, I am not nor have I ever been a big fan of Trumps, but I sure don't mind his politics.

i disliked many things that obama did as president, not sure i agree with your assessment of labels. maybe you're too sensitive to opposing opinions, take disagreement personally? i don't know.

so you think that people that don't like trump or his politics dislike him because he 'had the audacity to win'? that's just as absurd as saying the reason people disliked obama is because he 'had the audacity to win'. the dnc didn't need to start a 'campaign of hatred' against trump any more than the rnc needed to start a 'campaign of hatred' against obama..there are, for most people, specific reasons for disliking particular policies or politics. for example, i loathe pompous braggarts who tout racist and xenophobic ideologies while using their wealth to destroy people of lesser means..i can't stand a con artist or a bully. which obviously leads to my dislike of the trump brand and trump himself. trump's actions as president (his tweets, his e.o's, his attempts at policy) all go against my core values. of course i don't like him, and i haven't needed any input from the dnc to get to that conclusion.
