i am going to be one of the last filers here, yikes.

 

i am currently putting together the package for my n-400 based on marriage.

unlike other applications I did in the past like AOS and ROC, I feel surprisingly insecure with how complete or not my application is. 

 

Here is what I have so far, could someone please let me know if it seems complete or not.

 

-Check for the fee

-N-400 form

-Copy of my Green Card, both sides

-2 Identical passport photos 

-copy of certificate of birth of US Citizen abroad of my wife and/OR her passport page.

-Copy of my marriage certificate

-Copy of income tax returns from 2015,2016

-Copy of lease for the last three years,

-credit card pictures and statements,

-Beneficiary statements from our retirement accounts.

 

I never was in trouble with the law, do not have any former spouse or dependent.

 

Does this seem complete ? Thank you for any help. I have some more questions but do not want to hijack this topic.

Looks pretty complete. Also if you’re a male and it applies to you should also include selective service card.

 

I filed online and it was much easier. Didn’t have to worry about passport photos and it’s very self explanatory.

Yes go to https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

 

create an account and follow the easy steps. Documents can all be uploaded as PDF’s and it tells you which documents specifically to file.

Awesome, Thank you so much. Last question. I never created a USCIS account but once filed my address change online, using my old private email which I surely stated also in some other uscis forms. Since a few days, I have a new more professional email address that I use for serious business related things.

 

do you think I could use this one for creating my account even if I listed another email in former applications ? I do not want any confusion or so.

Yes, use whatever email you want... they’re not tracking you by email address.

@Tango777  Hi there - yes that would be the biometrics/fingerprinting appointment.

 

- you will receive an email notification that your account will need some attention (you have to sign into the account, they will not tell you outright in the email)

- once you are signed in, on your account page - it will just say they have scheduled you for a biometrics appointment, and you will need to view your letter in the Documents tab

- the PDF copy of the letter with the appointment date and time will show up on your Documents tab a few days after - so will the mailed/hard copy of your biometrics appointment.

Please note:  the only REQUIRED documentation was the Green Card and the Marriage Certificate.  But we figured we'd frontload, and, of course, have copies available at the interview.

 

By the way, when applying online, the applicant must list ALL children - adult, living with, or not.  Then the suggested documentation says to attach the birth certificate of the child.  We did NOT do this, and my spouse does not even HAVE a copy of her kid's birth certificate.  Since her son is 30 years old this year, I don't think it is necessary, but the way the online program worked, it almost looked like it was.

 

Anyone else in this situation - an adult child of the applicant who is NOT immigrating?  What did YOU do?

@Sukie Even if they are not immigrating, they need to be mentioned in the application.  As such, you will also need the birth certificate for the adult child - am assuming this is for down the road in case the adult child changes their mind, then USCIS will have a documentation of lineage (on both the side of the petitioner and the beneficiary).

 

My case is slightly different - my older daughter and I immigrated here together in 2009, and then I had to escort her back to the Philippines in 2012 (that is another tale of woe) - she has been living there since.  She is almost 19 now, in college and has two part-time jobs - she says she does not want to immigrate now, but at least in her case, she would just need to reinstate her GC and then earn the residency part after she makes it back here.

 

Like you, I frontloaded my online application with all possible documents - including my older child's BC.

Went to my biometrics appointment today! Yay! I got there early and there was pretty much no wait so I got out actually before my scheduled time started! They did take all my fingerprints (I assume because it's been more than 15 months since I had them done for I-751) and photo and signature. 

 

I'd also gotten a biometrics notification for the first application I sent in (which was rejected because my bank wouldn't release the funds) and the guy at the desk confirmed that I didn't need to attend the second appointment. Weirdly, since it was actually sent 4 days earlier, the appointment (that I don't have to attend, now)was scheduled for tomorrow. Ah, good old USCIS!

 

Now my "completed by" estimate says December (I think it said next Feb before) so I'm hoping they can better that in time for the mid-terms! Fingers crossed!

03-08-2018: Biometrics complete

04-05-2018: Case status updated - Interview Scheduled on May 10, 2018, 10:15 a.m. :D

05-10-2018: Citizenship Interview - Passed English and Civics Tests, Recommended for Approval! :D 

06-19-2018: Received email and text notification: Naturalization Ceremony Scheduled; waited for letter to be uploaded on online account - it has been set on Wednesday, July 25, 3:00 p.m.

07-25-2018: I am now a U.S. Citizen!
