No, this is a different RFIE evidence that is usually sent out if you provided a short form birth certificate or a record of birth that is not the official birth certificate.

Did you submit the long form birth certificate listing both parents? I have heard someone else say they received the same RFIE as you even though they sent a copy of the long form birth certificate. USCIS seem to be throwing RFIEs out for no reason.

My RFIE evidence began something like 'please submit a foreign birth certificate along with an English translation' even though my BC is clearly in English since I am English lol.

Ah, okay.

Yeah, I submitted the long form one, both parents names on it etc. So what the heck do I do? This is ridiculous.

Anyone know how long it takes them to update when they receive your RFIE?

I've been so calm throughout this process but after getting that ridiculous RFE, and now having no update that they have even received it, I'm beginning to get pretty frustrated. For the amount of money we pay for this service the least they could do is handle your case properly and update you along the way.

It will usually take 3-4 days for you to get a notification from the day your document was recieved, which is based on my experience.

I know how you feel! I went through the same mind battle of 'what the heck do I send them'.

I would resend your birth certificate and just add in a cover letter stating  'this is a copy of the original long form birth certificate, in English, issued by the governing authority of the United Kingdom'. This is basically what I did for mine but put more emphasis on it already being in English lol.

You could also ask around in the JAN forum to see if anyone had this RFIE before you. Since I haven't got an update on my case yet and wouldn't want to tell you that this will be fully sufficient.

Thank you. It's been 5 days since they received the document. But it was Easter so I'll be patient.

Wow. I called USCIS and I asked about it, and said I'd already sent it in, is that the one I should send in? And she said yes, if that's what they want then send it in. I asked 'even if I have already sent it once?' to which she said yes.

Yep. It's pretty damn ridiculous. I was so angry for a while after getting that RFIE. I put weeks into preparing that application.

The first time around I even sent an official copy of my birth certificate that cost me £15. I included a cover letter saying it was the full length BC in English. All to try and avoid that RFIE that so many Brits had mentioned. And still I ended up with the RFIE. It really does beg the question What exactly do they want from us?

I saw a couple of people even suggest they were mailing out RFIEs to try and keep their processing times down. To make it look like they were getting through them quicker than they actually were.

My question though is what exactly does USCIS have against the UK Birth certificate? They seem to be disproportionately targeting that.

I'm super annoyed to. Mine is clearly the long form as it has both my parents on it and the general register office logo in the bottom right corner. What more can I send?

I've photocopied front and back this time.

I've wrote a cover letter stating how it meets the requirements in accordance with the travel.state.gov website they linked me to. That should be suffice, I'd hope?

Thats sounds good to me. Good luck and I hope this doesn't delay either of our cases for too long.

I really think that might be your interview notice!!! If I were you, I would call just because it would be on my thoughts al the time making me miserable, but... you should get the hardcopy of the notice soon!!! Good luck.🍀

I noticed that the USCIS DHS website has no changes and still states the received dates for all three (i-485, i-131, i-765) as 02/03/2018.  The USCIS Case Status website shows no information for the i-485 and shows the new updated date (3/27/18), but shows no information (blank).  The i-131 and i-765 still show received dates and information (02/07/18).  All the "received on" dates for the i-485, i-131, and i-765 are different on the two sites with only the i-485 showing an "updated on" date on the USCIS Case Status site (not on the USCIS DHS site).  I gave them a call yesterday only to be told that they would call us back since they were jammed with other phone calls.  Again, they never called back... I'm really getting tired of all this confusion and their lies about calling us back.  We have yet to receive any mail... :(
