Hi Everyone,

So a big day this week, My wife and I finally submitted for my AOS from F-1.

Short Background - Came to USA to study abroad in 2013, met my now wife. I transferred from J1 > F1 (No 2 year requirement).

Have been on F1 and F1 OPT for both my Undergraduate and Masters, my current OPT expires in August, 2018. I also recently renewed my passport, so that is a little confusing too, but we got through it and luckily by I-94 record stayed the same.

 

With the help of everyone on here, I was able to complete the application without a lawyer, but did consult for specific questions, and with the help of VJ and Reddit, we felt comfortable that we covered all corners.

 

I put together a Cheat-Sheet that would help me gather all the information, and among the craziness, it really did help me. The cheat sheet is below

I decided to do something very similar, and hopefully it will help in the long run. I put together folders.

- I-130/130A

- I-864

- I-765 & I-131

- Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage

 

In each folder, I put on one side, the forms needed and the supporting documentation beside it.

For the Bona fide, I actually put a checklist with Numbers and added them as "Tabs" so the officer could quickly see the specific evidence on the cover sheet and locate it quickly visa the tabs.

1/17/2018 - NOA1 electronic copy received - 4 Email and Text notifications (12:30am EST)

1/22/2018 - NOA1 Hard Copy Received

1/26/2018 - Biometrics Appointment letter received - 2/9/18 (For I-485/I-765)

2/09/2018 - Biometrics completed - Charlotte office - Very efficient!

5/30/2018 - Notification of i-485 Interview scheduled 

6/4/2018 - Interview notice arrived in Mail (July 9)

6/4/2018 - Called to request transfer case to Seattle (Moving June 25)

6/14/2018 - I-765 - Card is being Produced (Day 156)

6/21/2018 - EAD Card delivered (USPS tracking sent 2 days earlier)

6/28/2018 - Confirmation of Interview Cancellation

Great write-up! My husband was also on F-1 when we filed for AOS and it all looks good. I'd put the beneficiary birth certificate with the I-485, though.

 

Please cover the numbers at the bottom of your checks, as those contain your bank account number and allow scammers to withdraw money from your account. That, combined with your real signatures in the last image, is dangerous to have online.

03-16-2017 Sent I-130, I-145, I-131, and I-765 renewal to Chicago Lockbox

03-20-2017 Priority Date according to I-797C

03-28-2017 NOA1 Text and Email notifications received

04-03-2017 NOA1 documents received in the mail 

04-05-2017 RFIE notification

04-07-2017 Biometrics letter arrived

04-10-2017 RFIE letter received for birth certificate (that we already sent)

04-11-2017 InfoPass and mailed RFIE response

04-19-2017 RFIE response received by USCIS

04-21-2017 Biometrics appointment

06-08-2017 EAD/AP approved (day 80)

10-03-2017 Sent online case status inquiry for I-485

11-06-2017 InfoPass appointment about case status 

12-05-2017 Requested case update from Congressperson's office

01-22-2018 Interview!! Approved on the spot

Side note: I turned my maiden name into second middle name. In the combo card, my given name is First Firstmiddleinitial, however on the back of the card, they attempted to list my second middle name.

Nope - Just an overall one, and one in 130- and one in 485 - which had info about 765/131/130 etc

Good package. However, I'd like to point out that the USCIS general filing instructions states to put tabs on bottom, not the side, for easy filing.

Well it’s only been 4 months. Apparently the permit and travel doc is taking 4-6 months so hopefully soon.

I was informed 2.5-5 months. My current EAD expires soon though.
