not guarantee entry into the United States

Hi guys and merry Xmas

just need to get more help about

"". A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States.  The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have authority to grant or deny admission"

what happen after we get approve by embassy and they send us a passport with immigration visa and we sell the house and basically everything and move to the US but doesn't allow my partner to enter what should we doooo?:blink:

 It's very rare but it does happen. When it does happen it is usually because something was missed at the interview and the border caught it. Such as if the person should have had a waiver, or  the person shows up with a K1 and says he may or may not get married to his fiance when questioned when they will get married.

They won't deny admission unless they somehow find him inadmissible into the US, for example medically or criminally inadmissible.

A visa is essentially a document used to apply for admission to the US with a given status. There's never a guarantee to be admitted until you are a USC.

 

That said, being denied entry with an immigrant visa is incredibly rare.

But if you want to know what happens, it's the same as any other denial - you are held until flight arrangements back home are completed.

This warning is much more relevant to non-immigrant visas than immigrant visas. For the latter as said above it is very rare indeed that you’ll be refused on an immigrant visa. There was one case on VJ at some point, a Canadian with a criminal record, but he appealed or something (as I recall everything had been disclosed in the visa application so he hadn’t hidden anything) and got in later.
