I got my new green card in the mail (approved via VSC)!

I have been honestly so distracted with life that I wasn’t even thinking to look for it yet (extension letter valid until fall, and I had a looooong 10 month wait for my K-1 NOA2, so I was like, “whatever, it’s gonna take a while, I am here legally, all good”), and suddenly, there it was :)

Excited not to have to think of immigration paperwork for a while now!

I hope everyone else’s come through soon too!!!

I almost forgot that I still had to be approved... lol! It took forever, 1 year and 3 months, but my case was approved on 04/25 so I guess I'll receive my 10-year Green Card soon. Finally!

It took longer to get the renewal approved than the original petition, which took only 4 months back in 2016! The good old Obama days!

12.03.2015 - Sent AOS package to USCIS Chicago

12.06.2015 - Package delivered

12.14.2015 - Text received from USCIS; case received

12.17.2015 - NOAs received on my birthday! :)

01.07.2016 - Appointment for biometrics

01.11.2016 - Form I-485 ready to be scheduled for interview

02.17.2016 - EAD/AP approved

02.24.2016 - EAD/AP arrived today

03.18.2016 - Notice for interview scheduled April 20, 2016

04.20.2016 - Green Card Interview

04.26.2016 - Green Card received

End of this journey!

01.2018 - Sent I-751 - 10-year Green Card package

04.25.2019 - I-751 approved

Alright, we will be mailing our additional documents tomorrow. What do you guys think?

- copy of our driver’s licenses

- copy of my military spouse ID

- plane tickets with all our names

- geico insurance with our names

- my life insurance with both our names

- screenshots of my tricare health insurance with both our names on it

- tricare explanation of benefits letter

- DoD eligibility for Tricare

- screenshots of my bank account (my husband transfers money to my savings account twice a month)

- taxes 2015-2018 (we file jointly)

- property tax 2018

- home insurance with both our names

- home warranty with both our names

- delta title corporation for our house with both our names on it

- affidavits from his grandparents and hopefully from his chief

- copy of orders

This should be enough? Also we don’t have a joint bank account and my name is not on any utility bill.

and all of this is not going to fit in the envelope they provided. Can i use a different envelope and put theirs in the other one with all the documents?

Looks good. I would:

  • Include evidence from marriage to the present time for each document, or include a one-line explanation why not. That's what USCIS wants.
  • Use actual statements where possible, not screenshots.
  • Include an "Evidence Guide". Nothing complicated, just a table listing the evidence grouped by evidence type (e.g., of cohabitation, of co-mingled finances, etc.) and a column for necessary explanations (e.g., "We do not have a joint account, but see separate account statements with same address and transaction history."). See my suggested structure in the link below (click the arrow to go directly to the post).

All the best!

Make sure to send the the transcripts for your tax returns. All of this should be enough. Did you initially include the title for your house? I would think joint ownership of a house wouldn't have got you a RFE.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone knows how can I talk to the officer who is actually handling my case?  I have some very specific questions need to ask them.

Customer service is not helpful at all.

Thank you

That would be an impossible request, I believe.  Usually, you could get to Tier 2 (if you are lucky getting past those parrots).  Then the Tier 2 would be able to relay your message to the working officer.  The adjudicating officers at the Service Centers actually do not have a phone in their cubicles.

so what can I do to be able to talk to tier 2 people then? General customer service people are just reading the stuff on the website not very helpful
