Anyone still waiting for 751 approval that tried to submit a request for case outside processing time? 

Anyone try calling and get a new status update?

 

Unsure of what to do and starting to feel like our 751 app is just in a black hole

I would say leave it be if citizenship is your ultimate goal. Technically we are within processing times, aren't we, even though it's a super long wait? 18 months was the extension anyway.

 

Same with us as far as absolute dead silence ever since they received it January last year. Stuck in the Upper Midwest Bermuda Triangle. I AM going to take the opportunity to inquire about it when we go for my husband's biometrics...whether or not they are able to share / see what's going on is another thing but at least since we will be there. "you have not because you ask not".

Yeah you're right, plus last time we did an info-pass in May 2018 they didn't tell him anything new, just stamped his passport with the i-551 (prior to us receiving the 18 month extension)... 

 

LOL yeah. I feel the same! My husband had his biometrics Monday but they are a different center here so they didn't have any info - hope you will have some luck though! Will keep updating the timelines as we move along.

I wouldn't bother... We aren't outside processing times. You'll probably get a canned response saying it's in progress, blah blah blah.

I am still of the opinion that the sudden wave of approvals was an anomaly that was caused in part by the temporary government shutdown. The petitions are supposed to be processed in the order that they are received, and there are still petitions that were filed back in June of 2017 still waiting. Perhaps a couple of bank box style storage boxes were pulled out of line for a data update to one or two petitions, and rather than put the boxes back in line, they put them on some adjudicator’s desk. 

The historical data still points to mid to late summer for January 2018 filers.

USCIS is not affected by the government shutdown.  The agency is a fee-funded agency under the Department of Homeland Security and it relies on less than 5% of its budget on Congressional appropriated funds.

There's always been random waves, and I have yet to see them ever actually approve in the order they received. For my husbands 2 year GC, he was approved in 66 days, ahead of filers before him and while there were other filers in the same month that didn't have their case touched for over a year, no RFE or anything.

I've yet to actually see anything that proves they are done in order, or that cases jumping from Nov 2017 to Jan 2018 approvals being anything out of the ordinary. 

Note that there are a couple of random March 2018 filers who have been approved within the last couple of days.

The only thing we know is that people who filed usually have their cases adjudicated first, but sometimes it doesn't really matter and a person who filed 2 months later might just jump ahead of you.

It is fee-funded, but I was told by immigration lawyer that FBI stopped background checks during the government shutdown. It could possibly speed up other applications. Just my guess

VesnaCR - Good point.  The adjudicator manual says, FBI name checks are to be requested within 15 days of application receipt.  Nothing is said about how long that is valid for, so it is possible that they need to do it again for I-751 applications because these applications are pending for too long.

So Just submitted my N-400, still awaiting approval on --751.
Based on recent posts, I am being positive this will also push my case for an approval.
