Is anyone else not too in love with the new couples just yet? I might be attached to previous couples/seasons but

for some reason, I'm not feeling it. They uped the drama and the ridiculousness and I wish one of those couples was a bit more ''normal'' to balance the rest. Some of the previous couples are still going on strong, I just don't see that happening for most on season 5.

I mean normal as a bit boring, met months or years before getting engaged, and/or similar ages, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. But I'm sure that wouldn't be too fun to watch :jest:

I really don't care for these new couples. None stand out to me, ie: like Jungle Boy or Anfisa, Moh or Larry.

Lord, Evelyn is being so unfair. David left his country, job, family, friends, everything he knows and you can't even compromise a bit and move to a different city? And then fighting about the wedding she's been planning ''her whole life'' girl chill, you're still a teenager. Also, it's David's wedding too. Disaster in the making! This is partially why marrying too young could be a bad idea.

The whole dowry thing is an example of how certain people from certain countries think Americans are like. ''Oh, they're from the U.S (or the U.K, or some other place people tend to idealize) so they must be rich!' Which of course, we know it isn't always the case. And of course, her mom wants to ''follow tradition'' it means they clearly want more money. 50,000 bath can go a long way in a small village in Thailand, come on.

And Nicole, sigh. what can I say at this point? She is just being Nicole!

Olivia is totally my spirit animal.

I agree, please let's get back to commenting a show and having fun?

We all have enough stress in our lives ;)

I absolutely love Evelyn's dad. he is like a crazy Christian Dave Grohl or is it just me?

I think he is sort of attractive and I was about to feel bad, but I forget he is still quite young!

since he married at 19 I think.

I thought he was legit her brother when they were first were shown.

I can't say I would be as happy as they were to find out their 18 year old daughter was marrying. Hubs and I got married 'young' too, at 22 and 23 (13 years ago), but 18 is really stretching it and she clearly is not mature enough for it yet. The cynic in me wonders if they are just glad they found someone dumb enough to take her off their hands.

My mom was 22 when she married my dad (25) 30 years ago, they're still married. It happens and it can work out of course, but just like you said, 18 is definitely pushing it. And the lack of maturity shows. I think the parents are cucu like her and as they married at the same age they think its normal? Also, she is still a virgin so her rushing into it makes sense, raging hormones. haha but your comment made me laugh, ''someone dumb enough to take her off their hands'' makes sense. I feel that the people that come from beautiful countries will sometimes struggle the most, as they're not running away from poverty and war, Spain had a recession but it is an amazing country. So is Amsterdam, the green card doesn't seem like the reason they want the K1. Oh this show is so much fun to watch

In regards to the dowry, my parents grew up in that tradition and my father had to pay. My mom thinks that this tradition should have died out by now.

Hopefully David understands that even though Annie's parents were Ok with only 50k (+2 water buffalo) and not the 500k baht dowry, they probably expect regularly remittance to be sent once Annie is in the US. They'll ultimately get the 500k baht dowry and then some.

I agree, it seems like an outdated tradition. it doesn't mean they shouldn't help but I'm questioning her motives.

I loved the part where he needed smaller water buffalos :D instead of the one big one. ''why is it so expensive'' *In Thai accent* it's big! big buffalo!

I cant get over Evelyn.  How David is attracted to her I just can't fathom.  She's too young, immature and bratty, always needing to have her own way.  And the fun facts conversation over breakfast was proof of her immaturity and unwillingness to compromise and not carring about the hardships of others.  I can't imagine her procreating at this point... can't call it motherhood, so I'll stick with procreating for now.  And omg... Evelyn please... please.. stop smiling.  I almost send her a fb message to stop smiling... lmao

Omg omg omg lmao I just had a flashback... 1. Remember when Evelyn was driving and David said he didn't like it there and he wanted to move? Evelyn just kept driving and with her big smiling and said 'you will' and her smile never faltered!? Ok... so merge that thought with the movie Misery, happy Kathy Bates as Evelyn and David as the trapped writer tied to the bed in the bedroom... omg the scenario so fits! (Well,... I thought it was funny and very fitting... especially Evelyn as Kathy Bates...lmao)

There is something seriously wrong with Evelyn, she's so spoiled that she expects everybody to conform to her desires.

Nicole is a complete waste of airtime.  Well, they all arte but some are somewhat entertaining.

The blonde girl with the Maldovian boyfriend is a total airhead.  She is talking to the lawyer about what the k-1 delay may be, and never imagined that an overstay on a tourist visa could be a problem.  When asked if he ever overstayed, she was very blasé and says "yes, but only by a little while"  "How long?"  "6 months"    6 days, 6 months, what's the difference, right?

David (the Buffalo hunter) is being taken advantage of, but doesn't realize it because he has beer goggles on.  At least I hope he does, he does look a little buzzed all the time.  Too bad for her family, he's broke.  Since he spent his flight home money on buffaloes, I think he's stuck there.  I hope he likes rice.  500,000 baht.  I almost fell off the couch when she said that.  I think they think she's dating some kind of bigshot.  This guy walks aroun in pink pajamas all day.  That should tell them everything they need to know.  He can't even afford a BIG buffalo, he had to buy mini buffalo.

BTW- they didn't settle on 50,000 baht.  He confirmed that the dowry is still 500k, this is only a down payment.  He promised to repay the other 450,000 eventually.    (He was so happy that they accepted the 50k at first, he cried a little, at least until they mentioned the buffaloes, then he cried for a different reason.)  My prediction is that they will keep asking for more and more and this bobo will finally wake up and realize that he's being used by a girl who's a 5 on her best day.  I can undertsand losing your mind over some hottie, but this chick?  So he'll cut them off, at which point she will say that since he can't "support" her anymore, she is leaving him.  So he'll have given them thousands of dollars, gold, and 2 midget water buffaloes.  And he'll end up owing his friend a LOT of money.

David (the Buffalo hunter) ....

Well we all know what I think about Evelyn aka Kathy Bates...

...your right, Elizabeth is an airhead.  She knew the whole time he overstayed his visa and she goes asking what's taking so long... duhhh.. never thinking thats an issue.. if I remember, or "misremember" isn't that, or couldn't that be a 10 year ban? Or am I confusing that with something else?

David will be supporting and paying her family for the rest of his life.  He didn't only buy two buffalo, but a wife, and a tribe.  That man is going to die exhausted... and not a happy exhausted... bc he won't be getting any...  :-O

I think there's more to it with Elizabeth's boyfriend. I think it's funny she went to an immigration lawyer to ask questions, makes you wonder how she managed to file the K1. Guess she didn't have Visa Journey :jest: But I think the show has to add the lawyer every few episodes, to put more drama into it.  From what I've seen so far I don't care for this couple.

No sign of Billy Bob this week, they are slow getting his story going.

It's the same as last time with Nicole and Azan, just add her child to the mix. A disaster that has already happened.

David the Buffalo Hunter  love it!!! He's a mess. Clearly he can't afford all these demands for his bride. Especially when he needed to buy baby buffalo and now is basically out of money. His friend is going to close his bank, so to speak. Yeah what's with wearing pajamas all the time too? I thought he told in the beginning of his story his health was bad ect, but is much better from weight loss blah blah. He still looks unwell to me.

I feel for Molly's oldest daughter. The little one is clueless and is probably use to seeing new men around. She was funny though being like a tour guide for Luis. Luis looked scared sh++less when Molly's dad was talking to him. Lol
