Hi everyone,

I have read the list of evidence of bonifide marriage online. My concern is: is there any other evidence we can use aside from what is listed in the Visajourney website? We don't have joint ownership or property or tenancy or co-mingling of financial resources or children?

You might have more proof than you think---sometimes you have to think outside of the box.  What sort of evidence do you have so far to submit?

We didn't have any of those things you listed.  We provided pictures, airline tickets, copies of stamped passport pages, some copies of chats and phone records showing we talked regularly.  We had no problems at the interview and my husband has been here for two years.

I'm not sure why they list those requirements when they don't expect you to have it.

Most CR-1 applicants don't have that evidence because it can be difficult or impossible to have.

As mentioned above, can you tell us what you do have? And then we can help evaluate that.

I had lots of photos, its important to have photos with family/friends (and also details that), and if possible identifiable surroundings that you can give details on.

I included flight confirmations and printed credit card statements for them.

Some chats from whatsapp, I didn't go overboard on photos or chats, only 12 pages of chats, 19 pages of photos, 4 per page printed on regular paper.

I see some people on here posting that they have 100 pages of chats.

I doubt they're going to look through that much.

So if you haven't married yet, open a joint bank account and try to use that when he travels there. You each get a card and you can spend some money from that account. Everyone says finances are the most important part. Better if you open the bank account in the US so that you can keep using that as evidence for ROC once you are in the U.S.

The above items are A) not requirements as someone said and B) things you would not be expected to have living apart in separate countries.

Think of evidence you have that shows you were together in-person, that will be your strongest evidence.

If you're not married, you can't be expected to have much.

They only asked for photos in the interview (ours and everyone's we overheard).

Passport stamps, if they do that each trip. A copy of that page will show that. Any receipts of travel to see each other.

Bank statements (fiancé's)  with cash withdrawals or receipts of purchases in your city.

Statements from people you know that have interacted with you as a couple.

Emails/chats/texts.  As mentioned above, tons won't be looked at.  I spent a lot of money on printing and photocopying for no reason.

You may be able to acquire more evidence of financial co-mingling then you realize. Here are some easy/common examples --

  1. Do either of your have credit cards? You can add an additional card holder to your existing account. NOTE: you can easily add a cardholder, adding your wife to your actual account will require a social security card, which obviously she will not have. But you can authorize an additional card.
  2. Do you have any life insurance or accidental death benefits provided by your work? You can add your wife as a beneficiary to these policies.
  3. Do you have any retirement or savings accounts? You can add your wife as beneficiary to these accounts.

These are really easy things you can do and you really should do, even if you weren't applying for any immigration benefits.
