It should have read bittering agent. To be able to sell it for manufacturing purpose they have to add an agent that makes it so bitter you can't swallow it

ok now you're making some sense. i was talking like alcohol intended for american consumption, we've got some super ridiculous rules and regulations..

Great aticle by Penn Jillette on why he thinks govt funding for the arts is wrong. He is a hard core liberal libertarian. Its kind of long but well worth theread

How Penn Jillette Became a Libertarian

but I was also remembering my Theatre 5 days in Philadelphia — and I didn’t think that the government should pay for them. And although I was — am — an atheist, my mom and dad were very strong Christians, and I was very close to them. And I had that image in my head of the gun. I looked at this art that I loved, that was so blasphemous to my mom and dad, and I was appalled by the idea that my mom and dad were having a gun held to their head to pay for art that I loved, but they didn’t.

And that to me was libertarianism in a nutshell. I wanted those artists to have their work everywhere. I wanted those artists to be very, very successful — but I did not want anyone that did not like that art to pay for it, and certainly not to be forced.

So when Wojnarowicz lost the grants from the NEA, I went over to his studio. He was a little surprised that I’d showed up there, because I’d been on TV a few days before saying that I didn’t think the NEA should exist at all, and he shouldn’t get any money whatsoever. I said, “I’d like to buy a lot of your work. I want to buy it because I really, really like it.” As a matter of fact, with some of my friends, we bought enough art from him to actually make up for his grant. (And now I own that art and it’s worth a ton of money, so I turned out OK.)

i totally disagree. and whenever i take that political test i land smack dap in the bottom corner of leftist libertarian..

if you look at how much canada invests in the arts its no wonder that 75% of the new artists i listen to and appreciate are canadian. then you look at the us and our new artists seemingly appear out of some corporate 'america's got talent' machine and the first thing schools cut is art programs. the arts are look at as unnecessary in this country. but not everyone can be a scientist or a ceo or even a factory worker, that's a foundation of libertarian thought too.

grants for the arts aren't about the outcome of the end product, its about making sure people from all backgrounds have access to the privilege of creating art (i'm sure you won't but see virginia woolf - a room of one's own). yes, I said privilege because the working classes have to use their labor for production of worthy "marketable" means and the creation of art in any form takes time and effort from a persons own capital. do we really want to exist in a world where only rich people can afford to be creative, or enter into art fields?  for him to say his parents had a 'gun to their head' in paying taxes to eventually support a grant that paid for an artist to eventually create a piece of art they wouldn't agree with is absurd. i don't agree with lots of stuff my tax money pays for, like say all the women and children that died in trump's recent raid that was (not at all) extremely successful. by penns assertion, libertarianism in a nutshell is 'i only want my tax money to go where i want it to, i'm not concerned about mutual benefit'. i mean where does this end, should i not pay taxes to pay trumps salary because i think he's scum? should i raise a fuss about my tax dollars going to pay VA benefits for old racist men because i don't like old racist men?

to explain what i mean by privilege, see below. how nice that he got to go around the country and have all of these experiences and he didn't have to get "paid that much"

So before I finished high school, I was out on the road in the USA. I learned to eat fire, and I learned to juggle, and I went to Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth Clown College. (And I say “Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth Clown College” all the way through, because if you worked for Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth and you ever said “circus,” or “show,” or “the Ringling Show” without saying “Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth,” you were fined. And we weren’t paid that much.)

Yep, heavy cuts in education and the EPA. Look for Trump to ease the regulations on lead paint and asbestos next to insure the next generations of republican voters.

Say what you want about the EPA and auto and industry emissions standards, but you can drive into Boston with your windows down and not be asphyxiated like it was a couple of decades back. The air and water are clean.

Enjoy it now. Smog smuggered skies for everyone coming soon. We can only hope that the ultra-wealthy eventually tire of the need for gas masks at some point in the future. They are going to be made wealthy enough to afford diamond encrusted ones, but they still won't be comfortable.

Fish are stupid. They eat worms on a hook when worms don't even live in water.

They eat worse than that my friend :) Oh the stuff I've seen them eat...no wonder I don't consume them.
