The wording says there are waivers  ,  including some family members where not getting a visa creates hardship.  Wonder how those will be requested

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Dislike....but far, far better than the old one so at least it's an improvement. Waivers are possible (details needed), Iraq not included, and all refugees treated equally at least. LPRs and those with existing visas not impacted.

This edict is harder to prove direct anti-Muslim bias in court.  The prior court case lined out what the original problems were, so this "ban" addressed the stickiest points.

The most egregious facts to me are that we have NO records of any terrorists coming from the six countries under the travel ban.  I think this will be the focus of any court fights.  The fact that Saudi Arabia was not included is still suspicious to me if preventing terrorism is the REAL reason behind all of this.

I can see how more scrutiny would be laid on a country who does not have centralized reporting or vetting.  But if you used this excuse, then India would be one of the places under such scrutiny, given that police reporting is so localized in nature.  Plus half the African nations.  Just because technology hasn't quite caught up there....

I'm hoping Trump stays away from messing with family-type visas/citizenship for my own sake...

She doesn't think it is. That wasn't the point of her comment.

The point is that the justification used to ban people from those muslim-majority countries can be used more easily for India and African countries than for those six countries, so saying it's not because they're muslim countries is disingenuous.

under the waivers, one of the waivers was for aliens travelling to join close family members (who are citizens\gc holders\alien lawfully admitted to usa through a non immigrant visa) like spouse/children. Does that mean those who apply for H4 visa(dependents of H1b visa holders) and from the banned countries will be issued visa?

The new and softer travel ban. I don't like it. I will never forget Trump speaking about a Muslim ban during the

campaign, so I don't care if they call it travel ban now, we all know it is a religious ban against Muslims and that is un American.
The cat was already let out the bag and due to his inability to articulate himself in a diplomatic manner it is what it was

called from day one. You can't back paddle it.

He also stated that maybe we should vet/scrutinize Germans (and French) a lot more because of Merkel allowing so many refugees in.

Muslims today, Germans tomorrow and who will be next ? I am sure Bannon will whisper into his ear to consider spreading the

ban to other African countries. What about Boko Haram and Nigerians for example.

As to the intrinsic policy, I wonder how many border patrol agents will still cause problems at the border with

green card holders and visas even if not included. The whole thing is just Nuts chapter 2.

I also wonder if the background checks will take longer and longer, they are already taking forever.
A whole lot of more agents need to be hired and efficiency improved versus the disastrous backlog in security checks now.

Seriously ??

Indian IT industry contributes immensely to US economy: NASSCOM

Indian tech industry shared a major role in US economy by contributing nearly 411,000 jobs to the US economy this year and $20 billion in taxes between 2011-15. Not to mention about the ratio of Indian doctor's and Engineers in the US. Please do some research before making assumptions on which country is "easy" to ban. I apperiate facts but not individual assumptions.

Again , I'm not in favour of banning any of those 6 countries as none of these countries has ever done any terriorist attack in the US as per the records. We all know from which "muslim"country the terrorism originated but that country is not among the list of those 6 countries. Rather I believe none of the country should be banned who is in the process of family based visa. We all are just waiting to be with our love of the life:)  peace to all . Cheers !

You're missing the point that was made. It had nothing to do with India's economic contribution. It's about the nature of how India's vetting process works (as well as other countries). It is "easy" to say (politically) that banning MENA countries improves safety. Is it correct? No (IMO).
