I think one thing they like to see is photos of the couple at family and social events, because they look not just at co-mingling finances but also at co-mingling social lives. That second aspect is harder to prove and photos are one way of achieving that. So, they're not actively looking at evidence that the families support the marriage but more that the couple does couple-y things together - like attend family events.

That makes sense! We do lot of couple-y things together (I'm sure all of us do!), but my husband is a photographer and likes to take photos, rather than being in them...I will convince him to be in photos more often, and make lots of memories! Thank you very much for your advice!

I had my biometrics appointment today. It was scheduled for 3pm, and we got there at 2:30pm.

We showed the biometrics appointment letter from USCIS and our ID to the security officer and told him our reason of visit.

My husband accompanied me and he had to show his ID, as well. After we went through a metal detector, we went inside.

I didn't bring our marriage license and my ID still had my maiden name, and the letter had my married name, but it was okay. They didn't ask me anything.

I asked them why my A number on the letter was different from what I put on I-485 (since I had one from my previous EAD card while I was in school), they told me that since I filed for AOS and I'm not student anymore, they gave me a new one.

The actual fingerprint and photo part was done very smoothly, it took less than 5 minutes.

By 2:45, we were out of the building.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience...People there were very nice and sweet.

No. You don't get an online update before they send the letter out nor after you've completed the apppontment. The next update you'll get is either a normal RFE, Ready for Interview, Case Transferred or Approved.
