Comments : My fiancee (beneficiary) and I entered together at JFK airport. First assistant told us to go through long line. After long line and going through self-serve kiosk we approached boarder control officer. He pointed out that we were sent wrong way, and have to go straight to booth with boarder control officer. Could have saved us 20-30 minutes. Officer was kind and handled each person in line in timely manner. We were taken to side office and were told to leave bags at the door.

We sat for about 10-15 minutes and watched about 5 officer take other folders but ours. After short interview with officer in side office we were on our way to pickup bags for customs.

We had a connecting flight to Portland, OR in hour and half and managed to make it on time, even waited at the gate for 10-15 minutes.

Comments : Interview was 15 minutes at most. Officer was very polite and easy to talk to. We provided bank statement, copy of car title that has both of our names, and four photos as additional evidence of bona fide relationship. Officer informed us that case is very easy/simple and it is approved. Green card will arrive in about three weeks. Three years after we receive green card (minus 90 days) wife can apply for citizenship. When time comes (2 years) we should remove conditions and get a new green card.

Consulate Review: Ukraine
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 3, 2016
Embassy Review : My fiancee and I arrived at the embassy around 8:00 and were out at 9:20
We got called to a first window where all the papers were turned in, and shortly after they called for the interview. The officer called my fiancee and me by our names when we were at the window.

The questions were pretty straight forward. Did we meet online? How we met, to which my fiancee replied with our full story. Officer asked where I work and what I do. Asked where my fiancee works and what she wants to do in US.

Papers and proof of ongoing relationship were returned and with a smile he replied that everything is okay and visa is approved.

P.S. Guards were kindof trashy. Supposedly any US citizen can skip the line and wait, but they didn't seem to care.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
