Locally we recently had a Mosque burn down, not sure if it was arson, but the local Synagogue took them in and allowed them space to worship there. Last check, this arrangement didn't cause Armageddon.

Speaking against Israel is not anti-semitism. It's anti-zionism. Apples and light bulbs... That they haven't come for you, doesn't mean they're not out there.

http://fortune.com/2016/11/26/trump-white-supremacist-support/

Donald Trump's disavowal this week of white supremacists who have cheered his election as president hasn't quieted concerns about the movement's impact on his White House or whether more acts of hate will be carried out in his name.

Members of the self-declared "alt-right" have exulted over the Nov. 8 results with public cries of "Hail Trump!" and reprises of the Nazi salute. The Ku Klux Klan plans to mark Trump's victory with a parade next month in North Carolina. Civil rights advocates have recoiled, citing an uptick in harassment and incidents of hate crimes affecting African-Americans, Jewish-Americans, Muslims, Latinos, gays, lesbians and other minority groups since the vote.

The president-elect has drawn repeated criticism for being slow to offer his condemnation of white supremacists. His strongest denunciation of the movement has not come voluntarily, only when asked, and he occasionally trafficked in retweets of racist social media posts during his campaign.

...And here comes the usual deflection. Now read what I actually said, not what you want to think I said.

I am just telling you from my own personal experience, I feel alot more hate coming from the left than from the right. And I'm not just talking about my experience in Vt...also in Milwaukee, Boston, and numerous countries around the globe, including many in Europe that I've spent time in. I am alot more comfortable around the right than the left.

Now if you want to be scared about anti semitism from the Trump administration you go right ahead, but I'm not.

Yeah, I heard about that as well as some other ones, synagogues in other places too, helping Muslim immigrants etc.

What I found to be really ironic though is in Germany:

not really about feelings, and it isn't about being scared of trump. bomb threats and other acts of terror, why is trump not interested in terror caused by those of any group other than muslims? you'd think with the massacre in quebec and the cemetery desecration and bomb threats trump would have plenty of doomsday material to work with, but no let's make up attacks and tout debunked reports because: islamic terror

Your personal experience is not representative of the world we live in. So far the groups chanting "Sig Heil" to Trump, and energized by his "America First, America First, America First" mantra are mostly from the extreme right, whose hatred for Jews is only surpassed by their hatred for Muslims. The left is notorious for an anti-zionist position, and the defense of the two-state solution, which everyone knows is the only possible solution for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. So long as Israel continues to expand into their country with the settlements, there will be war.  Everyone knows what is required to attain piece, but peace does not sell arms, and peace is not politically expedient.

Fox News faux news. No wonder Trump thinks all the media is lying.

makes total sense, actually.

Quote

“My statement as to what’s happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden,” he said.

News of Mr Horowitz’s documentary made headlines last year when he told conservative outlets such as Breitbart News, that there were Muslim “no-go zones” in Europe.

“Over the last two years, they’ve taken in over 350,000 Syrian refugees,” he said. “The reason why I went there was to investigate why Sweden has become the rape capital of Europe. Rape was not unknown, but relatively minor. There were few incidents of rape, let’s say about ten years ago. And rape has absolutely skyrocketed in Europe.”

The New York Times said that Swedish officials had said that their statistics did not justify the kind of assertions made by Mr Horowitz, and that the country had a high number of sexual assault reports, relative to other European countries, because more victims come forward, not because there was more violence.

*yawn* more deflection about the same issue we've been talking about here for years upon years and more excuses for the left's behaviour. It's getting really boring. Funny how my personal experience is not representative of the world we live in(mind you it's not only mine) but yet when we had people here talking about their experiences we kept getting told to not downplay them...typical leftist hypocrisy. So I'll explain it again(even though I really don't feel I should have to), this has nothing to do with the conflict. Criticism against Israel is fine and even welcome, I do it myself all the time. I've never been a fan of settlements outside of the blocs, and I've explained to my own wife and to other Americans exactly what you just said about the two state solution(with the exception that I cannot call it a country as it is not and never was one...it is a disputed, not occupied territory, granted in a dispute that needs to be resolved in a just way for everybody). Now back on to the real issue:

There are some on the left who claim to be anti prejudice but that's exactly what they do - they're prejudiced against you if you're an Israeli no matter your political opinions, and at times they will even be prejudiced against you just for being a Jew. You can deny that it exists if you want but it won't change that.

Even though you don't like my personal examples I'll still give you one, rest assured there's more where it came from though not only with me personally but with others as well. One day my wife was standing outside of our shop, and a woman walked by. Seemed like a real nice woman at first and they just had a casual conversation and somehow it got brought up that my wife has spent several yeas with me in Israel and that me, her husband, was from Israel and Jewish. The woman's response was "well that's as close to hell as I'd ever wanna be, I'm never going in your shop"...as the woman started walking away my wife's reply was "that's ok I wouldn't really want you to anyway".

If I walked into a place here, say a bar, a restaurant, you name it...and you told me ahead of time that 90% of the people there are american white right wing activists...or if I walked into the same place but you told me that they are people from all over the world, and that 90% of them are leftist activists I would feel alot more comfortable walking into the first group. That's not me being prejudiced against those people, it's my experience telling me some of those people will be prejudiced against me. Sure, some will in the first group too, but not as many. Sure there are fringe alt right groups that are feeling empowered now and are taking advantage of the situation but I think it's temporary and it'll fade...don't get me wrong I don't think antisemitism is temporary or that antisemitism will fade, quite the contrary, I remember trying to convince some here that it still exists and is still a real problem just as big if not bigger than other forms of racism via links and stats and I find it interesting that those same people who didn't think it was a big deal back then, and that the real problem is against other minorities are now blowing it way out of proportion. I've got news for ya folks; anti semitism is real, it is global(not only in the US by alt right groups) and has been for centuries. To pretend it barely existed under Obama and that it's out of control now simply isn't true.

It is also a fact that there are some who jump on the anti-zionism bandwagon as a guise but they really are anti semites. Again, I am not saying it is everybody, but to deny that it exists is the same as denying that any racism or anti semitism exists on the right which I certainly didn't do. BTW, do you even know what anti zionism actually really means? Or what zionism is really about? Because it is not the expansion of settlements.

I don't use that term, I prefer center-right moderate with a libertarian streak.

Now you're comparing oranges to insulation. But the attempt wasn't too bad.
