That is a quote from the Hawaii Christmas vacation article you posted. 4.8 million dollars for his 17 day trip.

 

4.8 divided by 17 = 280,000 dollars per day for Obama's Christmas holidays

 

Now we don't have real numbers for Trump's weekends but the quotes I've seen have been 2-4 million. So lets go with 2 million (low ball it).

 

2 million divided by 2 = 1 million per day for a weekend getaway for trip, of which he has taken 3 (so 6 days) so far.

 

Lets assume he is going to Florida to escape the cold weather, so it is a winter thing. So say he plans to go to Florida on weekends for the months of November - March. Lets say 18 weekends. 72 weekends in a 4 year term. God forbid he goes to 8 years which will make 144 weekends.

 

If he spends 144 weekends in Mar-A-Lago at 2 million dollars per weekend (the lower end of the estimates I've seen), he will spend 288 million dollars in 8 years. Now that is assuming he takes no "extended" holidays beyond weekends. Just the weekends alone would be almost 3 times (2.9x) more than Obama did for all of his travel in 8 years.

 

EDIT: If the 10 million for 3 weekends number from the OP's article is true, we would be talking 480 million dollars in 8 years. Also again assuming he only goes for 18 weekends out of the year to his "Winter White House". Also not including the costs of maintaining NYC for his wife and child while he is in DC. Also not including the costs to protect his children when they go on business trips. Also not including vacations longer than weekends.

What I would really like to see is a comparison to several presidents, not just Obama. I'm too tired for that though. Like Teddy, I just want a beer but I think if I had one right now I'd probably pass out and I've still got some work to do tonight.

Donald Trump owns the private, members only club to which he has gone EVERY weekend. Add to that the White House isn't nice enough for Trumps third wife.

I was working on the flightline at Hickam AFB in Hawaii in December of 2014  when the Obama's arrived for their yearly Christmas vacation. The amount of stuff they brought with them and all the cases of French wine on just one of the multiple C-17s carrying their stuff was enough to make me sick and mad at the same time. They were living the high life for sure.

I was already sickened seeing all the c17s, support personnel, limos, golf clubs, fancy wardrobes, etc. The wine was just a drop in the bucket. Seeing it with my own eyes made me mad knowing they were enjoying the finest in life on the tax payer's dime or by spending money the country doesnt have. All while many in this country were having a hard time making ends meet.

I can only speak for myself….but on many occasions I said that I wished Obama would golf everyday. It did not matter how much the golfing cost. Any day out of office was a day he did less damage to our country. 

 

As far as Trump goes….he has actually been working every weekend and whatever it costs the we will be repaid tenfold. He is worth every penny. 

 

Now there will become a point where there needs to be some restraint shown as far as going to florida…but it has only been a month so far.
