I posted this on the London K1 thread - but it might be useful for medicals in other countries too...

Although i had my most recent Tetanus jab within the past ten years (and had this on my record), I didn't have evidence of my previous tetanus jabs as my doctors only have records for the past ten years (I think this might be when they computerised them) - so when I went for my medical yesterday I had to have another tetanus jab as I didn't have a record of THREE tetanus jabs.  MY DS 3025 was then signed off as waived/complete - so it was better for me to pay the extra £40 (ouch - as painful as the jab!) than to try to get the evidence from my own doctor and risk having to go through another medical in the US.

I had my MMR about ten days ago, my flu jab a week ago, that tetanus at the medical yesterday - and my left arm looks like a bruised pin cushion.

I would emphasise that if you have been treated for any condition to which you have ticked 'yes' on the initial questionnaire - make sure that the medical summary from your own doctor includes dates, diagnosis, medication and duration of illness/issue.  My letter was too vague and I have had to go back to my doctor to ask them for full details and ask them to fax or email it to the clinic this week before the clinic forwards my results to the embassy in time for my interview next week.  This is an added stress I wasn't expecting.

Thanks, we are in the process of getting ready for our medical exam too.  And this info is always helpful when one is getting ready for the medical exam.  How much time before the interview did you make the medical exam date?  Do people advise at least 2 weeks?

Thanks for your info!

That's what I wondered -- does status change to AP while you're awaiting your interview? And only AFTER the interview, if it remains in AP, then maybe it's of concern?

Well. As far as I know, my case is in AP the WHOLE time. When the embassy received my case, they put me to AP. I am waiting for my interview now, and the status is still AP. I believe it will be a concern if it's still AP after the interview. Right now I don't worry much. I have been in contact with the embassy thru email almost everyday since the person from NVC told me that my case is in Guangzhou embassy and my case progress has been rolling.

...why does she want you to pay $3,000 for taxes she owes? I mean, I understand in relationships you share burdens (especially once you're about to marry!), but a sudden tax issue and immediately asking somebody else to pay it is not a good way to start things off. This is a flag to be wary of...

Really. The whole immigration process is expensive, is she helping you with that? Tell her you know an international tax attorney who may be able to help and have her send you the return. It sounds...... unlikely. Sorry.

I had my medical on Monday (6th) and my interview is on Friday next week (17th).  It did make things a bit stressful though - because I had to go back to my doctor to get the missing information and to get them to fax it to the clinic - which cost me an extra £40 - it has been a very expensive week!  But now missing information has been emailed from the hospital and faxed from my doctor - and all in time before they get my other test results tomorrow - so everything will be ready to be couriered to the embassy tomorrow.  I had to have my interview fairly quickly as I need my passport back in time for a trip at Easter (not to the US).

I would advise two weeks between the medical and your interview just in case you need to provide more information.

Then I have three months to get myself organised and ready to move!  I don't want to start packing and getting rid of my stuff until I know my visa is approved.

it might be your visa - but they are her taxes.  I understand that you might have to cover your visa costs - that might be best under whatever your financial circumstances are - but from this what I understand is that

a) she owes $3000

b) you need her to pay her taxes so that the financial information is straight for the i-134

c) she is asking you to pay her taxes because of b)

This is like blackmail.  If you don't pay her taxes you don't get to marry her?

Umm... I hope I am wrong.

Yes that's correct and I won't get to come to the states to get married.

She is not caring about the process at all and its left me in a wim that I'm doing this by myself.

I read all of the posts of couples and how they are so excited to see there fiance it breaks my heart that I don't even have that sad actually.

But I'll keep faith and just look fwd to my interview date and if I get denied its all her fault
