When protesters descended upon the Standing Rock Sioux reservation, many thought it was because they cared about the environment. In reality, it was just another opportunity for indoctrinated liberals to get together and virtue signal. As soon as the first whiff of North Dakota winter hit the protesters, they scrambled back to their safe spaces.

Of course, as seems to be the case with all recent liberal protests, the only thing the Standing Rock protesters managed was to leave behind carnage in their wake.  Snip

Just like other protests breaking out across the country, the Standing Rock protesters are devoid of any reason or logic. Protesting just to protest might make you feel good, but it doesn’t actually accomplish anything of merit.

allen west needs to speak to sioux leaders and get his facts straight.

exactly. proof you didn't read what i posted or maybe just proof that since you value the opinions of imbeciles like allen west you trust that he's got a grasp on the situation at hand. he doesn't, he's just trying to shame protesters (and i guess native americans - how dare they want their water clean!). seems to be a running gag with the right, flushing the first amendment as it serves agenda.

I am in South Dakota right now. Today on some of the talk shows they were saying that the final easement will be approved tomorrow( I think) Also heard they relocated the barricades so work can continue. One caller was upset that the "weed" law they passed should have decriminalized it....so they could make more room in the jail for the protesters. Haha . Pipeline is going through.

I did actually read the WaPo story and it only seemed to report on the protesters that were still present and primarily focused on the fact that the SR Sioux did not want those that are left to be forcibly removed, but do in fact wish that they would leave.  The only correlation of the WaPo story to the original posted story was this sentient "The extended period of encampment has caused soil erosion that could cause significant flooding, depending on future weather."  So please tell us how the two stories are related and how the first story was wrong, or did you read it at all?  Just as a hint, the first story was not written by Allen West.

the first story is on allen wests blog, my bad. and i'll go with the sioux leadership over a post on allen wests blog that clearly serves only to discredit the protesters. i have no time for those who don't understand and support all aspects of the 1st. thanks for the hint!!

Don't understand?  You made the assertion that the first story was wrong and posted a totally unrelated story to prove it.  So it is up to you to lay out the correlation.  I am not disputing the second story as wrong, but you seem to be saying the second story totally refutes the first.  Logic seems to be missing.

I'm from No Dak, live in Mandan. It was a looooooong summer. I believe the tribe never meant for things to end like this; but I certainly am not surprised by the mountains of C.r.A.p left behind because the protest was hijacked a long time ago by outsiders with their own agendas and motives. People who actually didn't care about the tribe or their situation but treated it like a hippie camp. They came in droves, put on face paint, shouted cute little rhymes about how oil is the devil and water is life, lived off the good graces of people who donated food and stuff, headed into town with signs that said "pilgrims should go back" and random stuff like that. Lol what? They got sucked into th feeling of unity and just went along with it. Suddenly it had nothing to do with the pipelines but now it was how the white people are thieves etc. The message was lost and those ND residents who once sympathized were turned off to what the protest became.

Then there was the small percentage of violent instigators. Guy who goes to my church who is a 3rd generation rancher has lost head of cattle and bales of hay. He's been ranching all his life and has never had that happen. We're talking about full-grown adult cows that fend for themselves. Sure they will loose calves to sickness or coyotes and maybe 1 or 2 adults wander off. Not 5.

Then there are his neighbors (several miles away) whose kids had to go live with grandparents when things got really bad. People with masks and bandana-covered faces would come in view of the house shouting and waving stuff around. Not guns I don't think but those kids were terrified.

A coworker of mine's husband is a cop. highway patrol I think. Yeah. He's had bottles and rocks thrown at him and has put in so much overtime.

Then the instigators led protests in Bis/Mandan against businesses that had nothing to do with the protest. Social media was their means to bully and attack them. They went after Sweet Treats for crying out lout, a bakery. Nothing to do with the pipeline. Ummmm what? People around here got real tired of that bologna.

The true intentions of the peaceful protest were drown out a long time ago by those who hijacked it, twisted and shaped it for themselves. Not only did they leave literal garbage as a legacy but the real damage is the relationship between the tribe and the No Dak residents. Trust on both sides has been very much damaged. Who is gonna clean that up? The protestors? Some have moved on to other more exiting ones while the rest just went home and went on with their lives.

P.S. Yes some protestors were paid to be there though they will all say "no there weren't" (then come after you on Facebook). I was in panera bread with my husband. Couple of people were 2 or 3 tables away from but it was still enough to hear part of the conversation. Absolutely appalling and I was speechless.

Well that's it. Take it or leave it but just wanted to put in my 2 cents in since NoDak is near and dear to my heart.
