I don't know how many of you regulars feel here, but I am bothered by the recent banning of one of our regulars. Not that I always agreed with his perspective on things, but he had a right to express himself, and the particular post he got the final boot for was no more than what goes on here every single day, by nearly every member of this forum.

I understand the need for moderation, and I agree that personal attacks and hate speech against groups of people shouldn't be allowed (though even a fair bit of that goes on here regularly, thinly veiled). But IMO, this particular permaban was over the top. Many of us have gotten timeouts, even some on the Platinum Plan like NB (I can't afford the cost). It bugs me that we come here, talk our little hearts out, and every time we click on a link, or submit a post, the owner gets money for it. And a LOT of money, at that. But now, thanks to a little Chinese fishing comment that someone took the wrong way, we have lost a guy who had been here for 10 years. Longer than most of us.

Maybe I am the only one who feels this way, but I feel it was wrong. Just as I felt when others here, from both sides of the ditch, got the boot. I guess at the end of the day, we are all expendable, if our viewpoint doesn't marry up with what the owner/moderators deem appropriate. Sad situation.

Tonight, I will take a knee for our fallen comrade. Can't stand up for nor salute the decision that was cast.

I'm surprised your comrade wasn't banned earlier given his history of posting articles in which he tried to denigrate people of color, especially blacks and Muslims. This should not be tolerated on a website dedicated to helping people immigrate to the U.S. since many of the people that immigrate here are people of color and or Muslims.

Your post is on spot. I'll elaborate on your post some more. Like comments on the LGBT community too! Constant baiting and deeming my husband and I of being supporters of terrorist.

The type of racist and discriminatory rhetoric he has been pushing on this site for 10+ years should have never been allowed in the first place. Now that he is gone maybe some of us can have some discussions without being attacked or feeling like every post is about us.

You know, no guns for negroes, thugs, genetic criminals.

For once, I am happy with what the mods have done.

A few things:

This site has a TOS. One that's a bit wonky sometimes, but that's the price of being here. I've seen some shady bans and questionable judgement calls, but we're on someone's site as guests. Unless you pay, or run it, you have to play the game. Folks get warnings and if you don't adhere to the rules, you get the boot. It's real simple.

Now, on to the real issue. The member in question has been here for over a decade. More than a few of us felt that he was given quite a wide berth in regards to posting, given his exclusive posting history of only 3 topics give or take. Personally seen it where his thread, while derogatory towards an entire group of people, was left alone and his speech unimpeded, while a member was banned for just speaking his name in the same thread. So the fact he was banned, means he's probably been skating on thin ice longer than any of us. And was probably warned more than any of us combined. Free speech is freedom to speak your mind, it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your words.

I spoke upon this in that thread where it was brought up. The folks are mad that he got the boot, but let's keep it 100. We all knew the history, and with the bans going out more frequently, someone on his side of the fence should have said something to him. He wouldn't listen to me or any other MDL, but one of you could have reached him. I know here I've said some things that might have not been what I meant or even flat out wrong, and folks in the MDL corrected me. If I felt it was wrong, I apologized and made the correction, if I was right, I broke out the receipts. And I've done the same for a few members that I always agree with. That's what you do, you hold yourself and those in your company responsible for your actions, so there's no raised eyebrows in terms of integrity.

But I find it unusual to say the least. Another member said they stay out of folks business when it comes to blanket generalizations(at least in the realm of certain minorities) but make a blanket statement about a group of people you might have a fancy for, they coming in ready to shed blood. You can't say you're not for something when you allow it to go unchecked forever then be hurt when the hammer comes down. Either stand up for what's right, or go down with the wrong when it's time.

You can't be against something when you're in the background saying that's none of my business in an open forum. Especially when you're in the same space making comments on it, knowing it's wrong.

I'd like to see links where he accused either of you being supporters of terrorists? Since it was constant, there should be many to share. I am sure you paid more attention than I, but I also don't recall him ever saying negroes shouldn't have guns? A link or two to those posts would be great, as well. Otherwise, this would be a personal attack, and false accusations against a former member. Against the TOS, as you well know.

But it's strange, his page is completely locked and his history gone, because there's so much more. But nothing strange about that...

She's upset because all he did, day in, day out, was attack Muslims and black people. Period. I said it. Not go against our message, but call our own existence into question every chance he got. There's so much more, but it looks like the more extreme ones aren't in plain sight anymore. And every time Janelle engaged with him, he made it a point not to say something. Which is what's expected.

It's sad that NB went into a long page tirade about how positive black people aren't getting credit and the worse of us are uplifted. The best role model any black person can have, a man who has multiple degrees, married to the most awesome black woman(Janelle and Oprah are 2nd and 3rd) in the world, has two great daughters, been nothing but fiyah since day one, is the living embodiment of class, grace, and swag, oh yeah, he was elected President of the United States, twice, and he's the black man some of you can't stand, a good chunk of you don't even believe he's an American citizen or he's a secret Muslim.
