Hey guys, does anyone know around how long it takes for the i-131 to come back with a decision? Just because my husband wanted to see his family for Christmas and we filed it, but we aren't sure if we should buy tickets yet or not. :(

The general answer is between 60 and 90 days, but that's not a guarantee. It's usually just better to wait, or at least take out travel insurance that lets to reschedule or cancel your flight if you do book before you hear back.

Yes, within a few weeks you will receive a notice to appear at your local USCIS office to have your fingerprints and picture taken.

WRONG!!!!!

Not local USCIS office, but to the nearest applications support center. These are 2 different places.

Hey guys, does anyone know around how long it takes for the i-131 to come back with a decision? Just because my husband wanted to see his family for Christmas and we filed it, but we aren't sure if we should buy tickets yet or not. :(

It might take three months, hopefully a little shorter (seems like it's currently averaging around 65-75 days for decision, then add some days to get the card in the mail). I'm hoping to go back home for Xmas too, but not taking it for granted.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

And no technically they're not. They are privately own contractors that help with biometrics, not one immigration officer work there, and no one there works for either USCIS or the department of Homeland Security.

Well, I just found out by reading another post about RFEs for the I-864, that I will most likely be receiving an RFE. Turns out, the I-864 at the last page has a section for additional info and it automatically prints the sponsor's name there. I deleted the name there because it made it look like there was additional info - which there isn't. To my surprise, I should have double check the form again but when you delete the name from the additional info section it automatically deletes the name from anther place in the form where it asks for sponsor's name. Somebody got an RFE for that sooo I'll be expecting an RFE now :(
