Dyslexic Child - I didn't say anything, did I mess up?

Hey VJers,

So, today we had our medical and the doctor asked my 10 year old son to "sign" his name and write the date. My son is dyslexic and had difficulty writing his name. The doctor noticed that so I explained that he has some trouble writing (we are working on it), then he asked us for his formal diagnosis to be faxed to him, because as he put it "the consulate officer is kind of #######, she would like all the info". Oops...

So, I haven't mentioned anywhere that my son is dyslexic. I am straining my memory to remember if there was ANYWHERE on the forms we filled, any question about dyslexia. I only remember self-harm, mental illness or being a danger to other or oneself.

Did I mess up??? Can they deny my 10 year old because of his learning difficulties?? (he is on the highest level in IQ tests, he is just dyslexic).
If anyone has any experience, please let me know. I am faxing the diagnosis over to them now... also my ex husband (his biological dad) is a Naval officer here in Greece. Could this be a problem? That my ex husband is military?
When he was younger, my ex husband trained in the USA for a year and required special clearance for that. We have no contact anymore. The diagnosis I have for my son is from the Naval hospital and it says he is the son of a high ranking officer.

19th July- POE Detroit. All went well!! (excluding our screaming, jet lagged toddler!!)

 

After Arrival in the US

September 2016 - Hubby is diagnosed with congestive heart failure
October - February 2016 - Battle with drug use, overdosing, bringing home a tiny paycheck

March - July 2017 - I am working 80 hr weeks to make ends meet. Discovered hubby's affair. Still overdoses and is hospitalized. Has quit working all together.
July - October 2017 - Marriage counseling. Revealed hubby has "several" mental conditions. Is started on several mental meds.

October 2017 - Got accepted for a college course. Got better job to help raise my kids.

October 2017 - March 2018 - Situation at home is toxic. He files for divorce.

July 2018 - Divorce is final. I have full custody of our daughter.

 

ROC (GC expires July 19th 2018)

July 16th - Package for ROC is delivered to the CA service center (divorce waiver).

August 30th - NOA1 received with 18 month extension (fee waiver approved).

March 28th 2019 - Biometrics

August 8th 2019 - Case Approved No RFE No Interview - 10 year GC in production

N400 (Online - Detroit, MI office)
June 6th 2023 - Applied for naturalization under 5 year rule.
June 7th 2023 - Application received/Biometric will be reused.
June 16th - Interview scheduled.
July 27th - Upcoming interview.

Don't worry about dyslexia, that's not something that effects the visa. Just send in the paper the doctor asked for and you'll be fine. Did you know that Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison had dyslexia

Im not sure why you didnt just tell the dr that?

It wasn't mentioned anywhere. He asked for the vaccines asked me if he had any surgeries isnhe wears glasses... he didn't ask me about how he did in school.

When he noticed he was writingwriting slowly I explained about dyslexia and he asked for the diagnosis.

The instructions we got, mentioned bringing old xrays and such.

My younger son has autism. It was noted on his medical (doctor was a real ### about it, noting that he will have difficulties finishing school and finding a job - like a GP has ANY idea of the prognosis for children with autism which is a complex and diverse spectrum) and a complete non-issue at the interview. Just to hedge our bets, we took to our interview his most recent assessment from his pediatrician (just to offset the dumb remarks in the medical) as well as recent school reports to show that he is cognitively and intellectually normal, just awkward as all get out in social situations. They weren't asked for.

Don't worry. You'll be fine.

When I took my 12 and 13 year old to the interview the Lady that checked the documents made me signed the medical forms for them. She told me because they were minors I should have signed. I'm not sure why the Lady that did our medical made them signed. Probably something to look into for children.

**Update**

Sent the paper. He didn't like it. It says "learning difficulties" but it is dyslexia he has.

I don't have anything else. Why are they so hung up on this??

He said he will think about it, he hasn't passed us yet. The interview is in less than 24hrs.
