mom wants to leaving the us

hi was just wondering my mom has been here in the US for about a year now. and she is bored and wants to go home. she has a permanent resident card. now my question is does she need any paper work to have in hand if she leaves the country US? and what is the time frame for her to be away from the US if she leaves ?and my next question is if she wants to return what does she need?

she can leave the country and stay abroad for less than a year

or get a reentry permit to be out of the country for up to 2 years

but if she doesn't want to live here, there is nothing that she needs to do, just leave

Possibly language barrier, no friends, can't work due the age, different lifestyle and the fact that probably she's much older. It's also happened to almost all new younger immigrants here in the US. We have seen those posts flooded on VJ. That's why I would never ripped my mom from where she used to live.

It is to us petitioner to make them feel home too.

I lost my dad a little bit more than a year ago, this is why I petition my Mom to come here. I already told her that she is going to be homesick, she will have hard times ( I went through it too). But we are planning things. She will go to the community college to get ESL classes, we are going to bring her places where she can meet people... we are going to help her to make a new life!

Sure if it's to bring them here and then... here, stay on the couch, watch tv you don't understand, babysit the kids, help for the housework... it is not going to work...

It seems like the OP from the Philppines. Most people in Asia have a very close-knit family especially in the Philippines. I did not mean people from another region don't have. But if you have read another posts from VJ, there are a lots spouses of Americans got bored even husbands/wives already provided all things they are needed.

I would never bring my mom here to be a permanent resident. Probably just for a visit. I still have a big family in my country (brothers and sisters), she never used Western toilet with toilet papers, she loves her foods and even though we have Asian stores here, that's not covered all ingredients that she used to get from traditional market. I felt horrible if she started lost connection from something she get used to. If something happened, I'm the only one she had here but she has a lot of families there and friends that will make her easier to get through.

Again, it's up to each individual. If some others don't work, I believe some others do, like your mom. I'm just talking from my perspective because I know my mom very well.

eh - I always have this image burned into my brain - a largish group of Aunties from the PI, at a local church here in the USA, meeting up, planning a party for next week, and getting busy with whatever stuff they do as a group. Sure, there's a designated driver or two, plus several largish vans - it always scares the crup outta me to see them get out of the van wearing those silly hats - I always think they're about to cause mayhem and mischief.

Did the OP do anything to help Moms make new friends in that locale?

I completely understand your point of view. In my case my Mom wants to come, she has nobody left who cares about her in France... so.

And this is what I mean regarding the OP. If you do bring them here! Do your homework and help them integrate their new country!

We don't know yet what the OP has already done for the mother. Probably the OP did the homework, or did a bit, or didn't do it all. I won't assume anything until the OP clarified it to us. It is just like a marriage, it needs two to do tango. If it worked then marriage will last, but it didn't then a divorce paper will resolved the problem. It was very hard for my mother in law to adjust to life in the US so she came a year ago and left back to Morocco with the intention of returning this summer. There was no one here who spoke her language aside from my husband and the local mosque did not have any older women that spoke Arabic. Another son has filed for a spousal visa to the US but that is still in the process. Another son got a spousal visa recently to Canada so maybe she can go visit him once he is in Canada. Regardless my husband will go get her again this summer and hopefully things will be better this time around.
