Hello we are new to VJ and excited that we have started our visa process. We have much reading to do, I know.

We received our text message on 2/18/16 and have our receipt number.

My question is I was just approved for my vacation request from work and will be traveling a 3rd time to see my fiance. We want to know if we can change to I-130 so we can get married when I go back? Not sure what to do or the process delay it may cause if we did that........ Which is best for the Cairo Embassy?

Also if anyone has any information on Cairo Embassy please share, just like everyone I guess we are trying to be together as quickly as possible.

Thank you very much!

hi

nope, if you get married, your fiancé will have to withdraw the K1

and start all over again, the CR1 i130 takes around a year for you to come

the k1 will take less time

but it's your decision

if you do get married you will have to return to your country and wait for the process

Don't do it. K1 takes a few months (though I can't promise you won't get stuck in AP) and spousal takes about a year.

I was just reading that, thank you.

Also update your profile. Your profile suggest you're applying for a student visa (F1) not fiance visa (K1)

Done, thank you for telling me.

The other replies are correct. If you get married in Egypt you're going to be waiting longer to be together here in the US.

If you decide to change your visa application designation, you're going to be starting over from scratch.

The Cairo embassy changed to an online interview scheduling system, so I think that's made things a bit faster than in previous years.

The packet 3 is emailed as well, instead of postal delivery, so that makes it faster than it used to be.

Administrative processing is the real time drain. But there's almost no way to avoid that or predict how long it will be.

Good to know, thank you for this information. I will let my fiance know about this. We are trying to get as much information about the embassy as we can so we know what to expect or how hard it's going to be. (we heard very hard)

The hard part is just the waiting. Or that's what I think.

Also the embassy will take weeks to get back to you if you email a question. When they do respond it might not even be helpful to the question you ask.

Best option is the ask the forum here to get you some idea of what to expect.

The steps are pretty straight forward. Just get all your documents together, keep good records and have copies of everything.

you cannot switch from one to the other. If you marry you start from the beginning

Like others have said, don't do it. On the K-1, you'll be together much faster. My husband and I did the spousal visa and it took us 17 months and one week. Go for the K-1. Plus you've already paid the fees and sent in the petition.

They are right you will have to reapply but since it is hard to get K 1 approved in Egypt, it is best to marry and do the CR 1

you could end up getting denied K1 visa and going back to marry later as happens to many of us in these countries

I ended up reapplying after the K 1 interview denial

i know K 1 is easier in the countries these people are from but not from any country in Africa

the progress of CR 1 would take a year but if you go k1 and no visa, and have to return for marriage, the process will be a lot longer

Marry when you go

Take the application with you and have spouse help filling out the section that needs to be done in native language of beneficiary

Incha allah

all will go ok

Why did you get denied?
