I haven't received any approval for EAD but received an interview for me and my husband on March 21, 2016. It was recently canceled and they said they would send me a letter with further action. I've heard people still go to the interview and they take them in any ways. Should I still go? I want my husband to get his EAD or Green Card already he needs to work.

Just received an RFE requesting I send my marriage certificate (although I definitely sent one in when I filed for AOS). Appears to be linked to just my i-485 and not my EAD application (I applied for AP separately and had my approval through a week ago). Just wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen?

send a certified marriage certificate

Hi Leejan,

Thanks for the advice, I did send a certified marriage certificate originally (and I will do again). I was just curious about whether other people had sent in documents that got mislaid by USCIS. It's just frustrating having to send something in that I know I've already sent (as we were specifially waiting for the certified copy before we could send in the AOS stuff). Especially as the RFE is dated 1st March and it only arrived today (so clear wasn't sent out straight away).

Your RFE is for your GC or your AP? It sounds like your RFE was for your GC? Are you changing your name through marriage? I had actually read this happening to some people on the October and November 2015 AOS filer threads, so I sent three certified copies of our marriage certificate with our petitions. I had read that you should send a copy for each benefit (GC, EAD, AP = three certificates) especially if you are changing the married name. That way, they have proof of your name change. I think it may also be to show you have proof that you qualify for that benefit. However, I don't think it's a hard and fast rule - it probably depends on the officer's discretion... But I have seen this RFE crop up for seemingly unnecessary reasons before. At least it's a quick fix!
