Expedite due to very ill Father-in-law

So my Father-in-Law is in the hospital after having 2 strokes and the doctors have now found a cardiac arrhythmia - I'm very worried and want to be able to be there for my fiancé and his father.

Do you think this is reason enough to expedite on grounds of "humanitarian situation" or "extreme emergent situation"?

I know years back when I was going through this a fellow Canadian was expedited for similar reasons. Can't hurt to try.

Can't hurt to try. My mother passed away in December. Her heart gave out. They would not let my husband come here for her funeral. And my mother has been to Sri Lanka and visited my husband. Being that you guys are petitioning for someone from the UK I am sure you will have a different experience.

I tried my mother was terminal. I had a letter from her doctor sent the expedite and it was refused.my mother passed 3 months later.my husband cried because he wasn't able to see her in person not Skype.and I needed his emotional support.

K-1 is a visa for unmarried couples. A Father-in-law is the father of spouse. If you mean future Father-in-law, then I'd say your chances are slim. Easier to visit on the VWP and delay the K-1.

This is an extremely hard one to call.

No one here can tell you if it is or not.

I personally don't think it is due to having seen what expedites require from those who have tried and failed and succeeded.

Usually only approved under extreme circumstances that relate only to the beneficiary or petitioner.

Unfortunately being someone else (the FUTURE father in law I hope) well I don't believe it's grounds to expedite.

The last one I saw was because the petitioner was on dialysis, 12 hours a day.

Like everyone else said, there's bo harm to try, it won't hurt your petition anyway. But you'll still have the medical and interview to wait for also.

So I agree, go visit now, use VWP and just go visit whilst you can.

If you are British you can visit today on Visa Waiver? Don't waste time messing about with K1 if you need to be there urgently.
