Well I called NVC to ask about the change of address letter and they said they don't know why I got it, but anyway, I asked about my checklist papers that I over nighted on 12/22 and they said it was received on 12/31. That is now an extra week we have to wait because they took their sweet time to scan them in :( I swear anything that can go wrong, will go wrong in this process.

Rant....

got a checklist because income in I-864 didn't match line 22 of my 1040. All my income is foreign income, and the amount was $2,794 and will make NO DIFFERENCE to the application anyhow as we are not using my income!!!! GRRRR don't they have common sense?? Ilisted 0 as income we are using to sponsor is 0 because its foreign.

If you don't have enough income, they give a choice of using assets. we have nearly 8 times the poverty level guidelines and they only need 3. They still suggest we have a joint sponsor!!! Why do they even offer two options and then say you cant use the option!!! GRRRRRR

Now we are getting family to sign joint sponsor forms. NVC wants 3 years of tax return information! Why do they even need this? In my opinion, current and most recent is relevant! Plus the IRS is slow and difficult to deal with (they must take notes from NVC!)....

Your words are always so kind and comforting. Thank you. I am on my 55th day now but they have slowed down considerably and appear to be taking the full 60 days. As my 60th day is on the weekend, i'm guessing i won't hear anything until next week  I feel like i'm losing my mind this week.

I received an email from our senator today saying that he requested an expedite for us but that London said no. I didn't expect an expedite request to be filed and had no idea it had been so you'd think i'd be okay with it, but i'm kind of depressed by it. I'm pleased however that our senator cares enough to have tried.

I'm so scared :crying:

Hey lady....Ive counted 4 times and you are not on day 55...you are on day 56 ....I have a Nov 14 scan date for checklist and I know that I am on day 55 because Ive counted hundreds of times lol. Maybe its the 9 hour time difference lol. My husbands says I use Brandy math lol . Sooooooooooooo 1748823w90wi5jljv.gif heres an extra day closer for ya !

I find these 'changes of address' letters that you get are usually because of a rep that you talked to on the phone recently made a change on your file - this doesn't mean that they changed the address, merely they annotated that you called and why you called or something simple like that (at least that's what I've heard from previous reps). They claim that it doesn't reset your clock because the rep is just making notes on why you called and the e-mail is a generic email that (of course) is super unclear as to why you are getting it.

I feel they keep it that way to spread panic and fear because they get a chuckle at it (okay I'm kidding...but still...broken process)

If you are living abroad and using assets then all that AOS stuff is really funny - I can't really confirm about the input of foreign income because I'm not making any income as the USC (so all I did was put 0 in the boxes). IF you did have income that was taxed for the three years, then you have to input it AND you have to supply tax information - If you didn't file your taxes then you would just have to give a sheet of paper explaining why you did not file (i.e. you were under the guidelines to file).

As far as the 'checklist' for using of assets it scared me too when I first got it - but what it's actually telling you is just a precautionary detail - because NVC can only look at the salary amounts that will be used not that assets (only the embassy can approve if your assets are enough) so if they see that your salary isn't enough to cover (like in our case is 0) then they will send out a generic checklist that states that you don't have enough (in salary) to support and only the embassy can confirm if your assets are enough to cover it and then they give you suggestion that perhaps you should have a joint sponsor if you think your assets aren't enough.

So it's worded poorly, but if you have 8 times the amount that you are supposed to have on the poverty guidelines you shouldn't worry because as long as you have the bank account information to prove it then the consular official should approve that amount of money (and if you have job offers ect. to show as proof that's good too.)

Ph ok, I might tell my hubby that and see what he says. Maybe we will proceed and just finalise based on my sponsoring him with our assets then...

as for the income amount, yes it was my error. I lodged a tax return and at line 22 it states $2,794 or something. I listed zero as I mistakenly thought it was referring to continuing income that would be used to show I can support my husband. It is my error, but I am annoyed as I have to fix it and 0 or $2,794 will not make a difference to the outcome :(

Awwww. This made me smile. We will be living about a 2 hour drive from Disney... I'm thinking annual passes are needed! :dancing: After living in Chicago for 4 years and the UK it will be weird living in a state that is sunny year round.

I was counting so that today is my 56th day... I wonder if we will hear by Friday. I do hope so!

Awww sweet heart I have read they are about two days behind and I think it's just sitting there ready for you. Have your husband call so you don't have to go through the nervous wait for them to answer. Don't think they are that behind and I know your scared they have tortured us all. We all all suffering from the Stockholm Syndrom and only after POE will that subside. We are here for you my friend through thick and thin. Once you have your CC your Visa is a given, you have been married for a while with a child are or will be a Dr. and have lived in the USA. So you have no worries there, please try to relax and have your husband call today and everyday until they give you the good new. He has time to call right now and it would be worth it if you could sleep with a smile on your face. Love you girl be strong, it's just a little bit longer and your home my sweet angel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! t5063.gift5063.gif

t5063.gif I stole one of your hugs to give you one right back!! Thank you so much sweetie. My hubby is training for a new job at the moment so he is away from home and barely contactable. I think he needed this new job as he hated his previous one but he has to travel during the week ... I suppose we are now used to spending time apart but it's sad to think even once i'm there he will be gone a lot of the time.

I am actually really worried about how my husband will react to bad news as he's really been struggling. We've had a few big arguments the last month because he is upset that he doesn't get to see our daughter. I can't imagine a day without her so I just cannot imagine what he's going through. I love him and her so much and it's heartbreaking putting them through this.

Rant....

got a checklist because income in I-864 didn't match line 22 of my 1040.

/Rant

They are experts at making us all insane or at least make us think we are. They don't make any sense, they have taken it to new heights, I for one think they do it to weed out those that are either boarder line nuts and those that don't care enough to go through this living h e l l! Try to not make an attempt to find any common sense in this there isn't any and I'm convinced they send all the psychopaths to do busy work at immigration and other governmental departments.

It keeps them supper busy, too busy to over through the government. :D Yes this is what they have done to me. :(:cry:smileys-happy-715315.gif smileys-happy-715315.gif

Sweet but California is better ;)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

t5063.gif I stole one of your hugs to give you one right back!!

Hell heck it's about time someone give one back to me ty very much girl! :D Heheheheee I love it!

This is so stressful for everyone and starting a new job even if he hated the other one is stressful enough and maybe once your there with him he can change jobs to one he wont have to travel. Once your together all will be good and you'll see its just a matter of day and you will be on your way. Just a little longer sweet heart then you will be free! My heart and prayers are with you my dear friend. t45130.gif

Hi my dear VJ friends!

I'm preparing everything (and myself) for my interview, but I wanted to pass by to wish good luck to all of you who are waiting for a CC, struggling with a checklist, waiting for an interview date and suffering with an AP.

This whole process is a mental nerve breakdown and I'm so thankful to our dear Soloenta to make this thread possible and keeping it alive. We really need to support each other even with "only" words or prayers.

God bless you all and feel me good thoughts and prayers to you!

I love California, though i've only been to San Diego. Unfortunately, as someone in academia, I will end up wherever there's a job opening. California schools will be at the top of my list for jobs searches though!! That's if NVC doesn't ruin my chances of getting my doctorate :clock:

I'm hoping the hubby won't have to travel as much when we're finally there as they have said more work might open up near our home. That being said, i'm going to be knee deep in my own work for the next year. So realistically, as long as we can spend weekends together I will be happy.

I had a root canal done by a specialist two weeks ago and it was all fine until today, now it feels like i'm getting toothache. Hopefully it's just tension in my jaw from the stress.
