My fiance and I met while training for work. We had both just started the same job at CAT dealerships. His dealership in US mine in Canada. The training was at the CAT head office. We ended up on the same flight and sat across from each other and while we both noticed each other, we never talked. He was carrying a text book on the plane so I knew he had to be in my class... but I decided to leave him high and dry at the airport rather then say hello. Then we both showed up at the same hotel.. still noticing each other, but not speaking to one another.

Finally first day of training, and yep he was in my class. He finally approached me at the end of class to say hello. Finally we started a friendship over mutual hatred of Joe's crab shack (the class wanted to eat out and everyone wanted to go there except for us!). After that we were inseparable for the rest of training which was 1 week a month for 4 months.

When training ended, we said our goodbyes and both acted like we didn't care, but we were both completely bummed. We didn't really speak again until about a month later when I drunk dialed him to wish him happy new year. That led to online chatting, skype and finally me announcing I was going to visit for the weekend. On the final day of that visit we decided to start an actual relationship. We have been inseparable (as much as an LDR can be) ever since!

Our Story:

I had just had eye surgery and was off work unable to do anything for quite awhile. I was on FB looking at comments on a reggae site and saw his post. I checked out his page and he seemed interesting. We became FB friends. Months passed and we chatted alot, he always checked on me everyday to see how I was and healing from surgery. He was just so sweet but I didn't really take it serious...until the day when my ex-boyfriend called and wanted to get back together. I said yes, went to bed and couldn't stop thinking about my FB friend. The next morning i woke and said I have to go to Jamaica to meet him first. It was such a compelling feeling. My ex was never there for me through my whole surgery ordeal, but he was. Flew to Jamrock...stepped out of the airport...our eyes locked and I knew it right then. This the man I'm spending the rest of my life with.

When i was 16 i had a crush on a guy from school but he wouldnt give me time of a day. One night I went out, run into the guy and he avoided me like a plague. But his friends approached me and my girlfriends and we met. I was so uninterested and wanted to leave and one of the guys from the group insisted to walk me home, being a true gentleman. He was nice, kind and polite and had asked me out when we approached my home. I wasn't sure, but decided to go out the next day thinking we will be friends. Well... The romance began few days later and we dated...

Sometime later, my very strict father didn't allow me to go out for two months, I, still don't recall why, and we stopped seeing each other. Kids

Life got in a way, we went our separate ways but always remained great friends. We would often run into each other and would always have great conversations.. But both of us were afraid to show the emotions as well. Then we both had someone in our lives, both were respectful and reimined friends.

Mid 90's, I was a lucky winner of a diversity lottery and he was a proud father of two gorgeous kids and married. We run into each other again, by a fluke accident and I told him I was leaving in two days,

The next day he came by to say goodbye, had a coffee with my family and left after a very brief visit.

Fast forward 20 years, and no news whatsoever between the two of us.

Last year a friend of mine reminded me of a buy from the beginning of the story, and I searched for him on the fb. And then I looked THE name, found him and have sent him a message after not having any news about him in 20 years.

I was hoping that he was happy, married and content. He answered few hours later, we began catching up, and found that both are single, that he has been divorced for few years... The first day we talked on skype for about 5 hours, catching up. We began talking almost every day just as friends, continued where we left of.

After few months I was going to visit my family and had invited him to join and me and my girlfriends at our beach house. Well, they couldn't stay long enough, he came for just few days.

After almost three amazing weeks latter we thought that we should go our separate ways, me back to US and he didn't wanna move from EU. And we did, but continued talking almost daily at first and then daily and twice daily... Our families knew each other, I got to know his kids well...and we deepened our friendship even further, getting to know each other more then ever. I honestly though that I should just move on, as I thought I am waiting my time, but I couldn't push him away. His friendship was more important. He, on the other hand changed his mind and said that he wouldn't let me go, but didn't say out loud for few months.

He waited for the anniversary day of me leaving for US for the first time and he pop'd the question. And every day is better then the last. We got married in Sep, but our reception is at the on of this month

And yes, we thanked the guy from the beginning of the story few times we are friends with him now.

Although it took 20 years, we wouldn't change a thing. And THANK GOD I waited this long coz this is what I was hopping for when I imagined me in marriage. Also, I get to have three great bonuses with him, his three kids!

My now husband and I met at a bar. He had come to Chicago for 3 days for a quick birthday trip with his best friend. They'd been out to dinner and had drinks out on the town when they decided to go to the restaurant/bar attached to their hotel on the last night of their trip. I was out with 5 other people celebrating my friends birthday, and due to some indecisive wandering, we ended up at the same restaurant/bar. We ended up sitting at their table, and one thing led to another, and suddenly I was chatting with the guy next to me! We were both finalizing divorces, and he was leaving to go back to London the next day, so I never really expected anything to come from it. Facebook friends led to Viber which led to Skype, FaceTime, and lots of visits! Just goes to show that drinking makes the world a better place!

A close friend of mine had friends from France and The states visiting , for 2 days my friend was telling me to join them to go show them Barcelona and do some tourist stuff but I didn't want to because one of the French guys I knew already and he had a crush on me so I didn't want to have to spend all the time talking to him....

Well the last night my friend told me we are going to pick you up and going out tonight wherever you want to or not.

I perfectly remember it was a Wednesday night 11pm, 25 February 2009, I went out my building and all the boys started getting out the 2 cars and my friend was introducing me to everybody when I saw my husband it was like in the movies when everything stops around you and you can't listen properly....

I didn't speak any English, the basic from highschool and very poor basic I must say.... He didn't speak Spanish but we "talk" all night ( 4 hours, conversations were pretty lame hahaahh ) he invited me to come visit because I was never in this country before and I said yes sure but I thought he was joking or just being nice....

Before leaving he gave me his business card with his email and I told my friend "Gerard he doesn't know yet but the american boy and I are getting married" and he said what you are crazy which one??? And I remember saying: I don't know I didn't understand his name but that one, while pointed at him and smiling, my husband was so confused smiling back hahahaha!!!!

Since then we chatted everyday few days then every day using hotmail MSN.....

4 months later in June I came to visit my husband with the friend who introduced us and after that he tell me why I didnt move here with him so we could get to know each other better!

we didn't know about green card and visas were so hard to get, so that wasn't possible.... but we kept seeing each other, I would come here for 89 days a couple times a year, basically living together half of the year, until this last summer he proposed to me and we got married!

During my travel to Iran, I was sitting in an outside restaurant in Tehran with my friends. A small boy who was selling socks walked up to me and said: the man standing outside bought you all socks from me becuase all the flower shops are closed at this time. So I went to thank him for buying me like 20 pairs of socks and thats how it all started. It's been over 2 years now and waiting for him to arrive in USA. Hopefully his AP will be end in a positive way.

Love this story. Its funny how love at first site feels just like a movie. I remember stepping out of the airport. It felt like slow motion, the hot Jamaican sun, the warm air blowing my hair, and everyone's faces were a blur except his. Lol Definitely made me believe in fairytales again.
