My personal opinion: I do not wear my engagement ring because I sick amd tired of explaining to nosy people where my fiancé is and how hard it is.

Of course I did and so did he! It was a symbol not only to ourselves but to the outside world of our commitment. Who cares about the questions? I was proud to have him as my fiancé and would not have wanted to hide it.

Always I rarely take it off and only if I have too. It didn't bother me if ppl asked where he was.

What bothered me was explaining it all the time. Like I'm the idiot that doesn't know how immigration works. Yes yes, I know you thought marrying a us citizen made you a citizen but it doesn't work that way. Takes years and thousands of dollars.

Yes it is annoying to be asked constantly.. but I'll continue to wear my engagement ring proudly, just as he does. Years before he proposed we also had promise rings that meant a great deal to us, never took those off either. Whenever I mention where he's from I used to always get ''...ooh.. he's in the military?! I'm so sorry...'' before I could enlighten them. After so many years of this nonsense I've just gotten used to it. It would never stop me from wearing my ring.. don't care how rude or offputting a person can be.

I didn't have a ring until I told my fiance he HAD to get me one... then I wore it... it was a concrete little something to show the doubting Thomases that yes, I really WAS engaged to a real person. For a few years after we were married I wore my wedding and engagment rings whenever I left the house but I'm really not a 'ring' person and they didn't fit me very well after that so I put them away in a drawer.

You can always have your rings sized so they fit. Mine were far too big when hubs got them, a size 7, but I had them resized to a 5.5 and welded together.

I would never even think of not wearing it. We've been engaged for 5 months and I only ever take it off to make meatballs... For obvious reasons.

I love when people ask me about it, I get to tell our story. I rarely encounter negative reactions or I just brush them off because what others think doesn't matter, we are confident in our decisions and I think people can see that.

This ring is the first sign of our commitment it means way too much to both of us to hide it. Plus it's shiny and pretty :D

It is common in Scandinavia for both men and women to have an engagement ring that looks like a wedding band.
