Ending of a relationship, now what?

Hi Guys,

So, like all of us, I was preparing to bring my fiancé to the US to marry and settle. To make a very long story short I was cheated on and when I confronted my ex he just ended it all with no explanation. I have been torn in two but life must go on. My question is, what now? How do I go about cancelling the immigration process?

Sorry to here that. For us to give you our opinions you will need to know where you got in the immigration process.

Having said that, the best thing to do right now is to write to the USCIS and also to the State Department's NVC, and the consulate your fiance is from letting them know of your intentions.

The OP's timeline indicates that she's between NOA1 & NOA2, so only USCIS is involved at this point. Send a certified letter with return receipt requested, enclosing a copy of the NOA1 letter, stating that you're withdrawing the petition.

This.

If your I-129F petition has not yet been approved, then send a notarized letter to the service center that is processing your case. No explanation needed. You just need to state you are withdrawing your petition.

Been there, done that. No NOA2 yet? Send the letter to the USCIS office you have been assigned to. You have an absolute right to withdraw your petition any time before the visa is issued, so your letter is to politely explain to them that you are exercising that right.

Get your signature notarized. They need to see it is you and not somebody else.

It will take a couple of months for this to be finalized so be patient.

Hi,

Sorry you had to go through that. I believe you need to write a letter to USCIS telling them you would like to withdraw your petition.

Notarized letter.

Social Media?

Amazing what people will disclose.

There was an article I think in the Guardian about the etiquette where people break up, who deletes who from Facebook etc etc.

Not sure what Consulate is involved but non unheard of for people to trawl the web for people to sponsor them despite having a significant other. Once they are legal they can divorce and bring over their true love.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

This is very sad. I am sorry to read of this bad news, but great to hear that you found out sooner than later.

Agreed as others have advised in sending out a notarized letter to uscis of your decision in withdrawing the I-129f. Include the full names (petitioner and beneficiary) and the receipt number (which you can find from your NOA1).

If just in case you have received a NOA 2 (since your timeline is not updated recently), you also need to inform NVC and the consulate (with a notarized letter), depending on where the current location of your I-129f case file is.

You are still very young at 24, and have a lot to learn, my dear. I wish you all the best for your future and you definitely deserve someone better. :)
