is it required to book a round trip ticket for my POE..?????

cause that is what i heard from my fiance and he is notso sure also about it,. is just someone who tell him about that in U.S..

No, there is no such requirement like that. My fiancé bought tickets for both of us and those were one-way tickets to the US. I assumed he probably heard from travel agencies or the airlines representatives which also tried to ripped out my fiancé's pocket when he flew out to Jakarta for my interview.

Be careful with purchasing a round trip ticket if it is cheaper. I have heard of cases on here before where the airlines have notified the immigration that you have departed. Make sure you CANCEL the return leg of the trip. People have been denied re-entry after leaving the US even if they have completed their adjustment of status as they believe you have left the country with the return part of the ticket thus abandoned their petition. Takes a lot of explaining and investigation and possible denial of entry.

NO! Only time some buy a round trip ticket is when they can buy the round trip cheaper then the one way. A one way is fine.

Who is going to ask? As a CR1/IR1 visa holder you are immigrating to the US. Even a K-1 visa can be said to be immigrating to the US and as such neither category of visa holders have to return to their home country. A tourist visa is a completely different animal. You are temporarily visiting the US and as such need proof that you are continuing to another country or returning to your home country--so a return ticket is required in this case.

The only problem you might encounter if you purchase a round trip ticket verses a one-way is if the airline sells your seat, but does not remove you from the manifest and the USCIS sees that you left the country when in fact you did not. That is why it is highly recommended that if you purchase a round trip ticket, you cancel the return leg and keep proof of that cancellation until after the next phase of the immigration process.

Good luck,

Dave
