Ok, so for some reason I can't quote any posts. So here's an update.

Finally got through to NVC, and I had the joy of speaking to JOY!! Cranky again. Anyways she said it was a reminder to send in the DS-260 supporting docs....I ALREADY RECEIVED A REMINDER...when they reviewed the DS-260. When I asked her about the checklist and how come it didn't have requiring the passport photos, she said that they DO NOT require the passport photos to be sent to them anymore. #######. Sorry guys and gals, but I am getting very PO'd at having to talk to rude blunt people and being fed a different story every time I call. This is just absolutely ridiculous.

Are you the Dutch citizen? If you're having a problem with the birth certificate, perhaps you submitted the wrong version. Did you submit the long form? Or the short white form that you get from the Gemeente? (And did you get it Apostilled?)

Hi Kaylara,

I'm indeed a Dutch citizen and gave them the white form from the city council (they told me this was the right version, sigh). After it got rejected, I read more into this and found out that you can get documents apostilled.. Never heard of it and if they are giving me troubles - I will get a new version apostilled. Weird that my lawyer never told me this...

What version did you submit to the NVC?

Cheers

If you don't have an A number going into this process, then it'll be assigned when the visa is issued. It'll be printed on the visa itself.

Oh cool. i guess I'll keep filling out N/A on the A number field then. :)

The White form won't work. You need the long form Green version. And I don't know about whether or not they need it apostilled, (pretty sure that they don't) but we have all of our stuff (even the American stuff) apostilled just in case.

ok so here's the first one I received on April 21st

______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center received your DS-260 form. We are waiting for the traveling applicants

supporting civil documents to be submitted to the NVC. Your online Immigrant Visa Application will be

reviewed upon receipt of your supporting documentation.

To view which documents the applicant must submit to the NVC, please go to our website

And here's the second one I received very early this morning

______2 - PASSPORT:________________________________________________

Please submit a copy of the biographic data page of this person's

passport, including the expiration date of the passport. The

passport must be valid.

Please submit this applicant's original, or a certified copy of the original document listed above. Each

applicant must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the

country of birth, showing the date and place of birth, and the parentage of the alien, based upon the

original registration of birth.

Documents must be from the appropriate issuing government authority. Failure to provide the

of a visa.

The certificate must contain the following information:

? Person's date of birth

? Person's place of birth

? Names of both parents, and

? Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records

If the certificate is a certified copy of the original, it must come from the issuing government authority

and it must contain annotation by the issuing authority indicating that it is an extract from the official

Unobtainable birth certificates

If the applicant's birth record is unobtainable, please obtain a certified statement from the appropriate

government authority stating the reason that the applicant's birth record is not available. The applicant

(providing the baptism took place shortly after birth)

? An adoption decree for an adopted child

birth, both parents names, and the mother's maiden name

Suitability of documentation for immigration purposes

that applicants submit documents appropriate for visa processing. Please go to our website

No, I was wrong, it was on travel.state.gov You (and any family members immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage. Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted.

The certificate must contain the:

  • Your date of birth
  • Your place of birth
  • Names of both parents
  • Indication by the appropriate authority that it is an extract from the official records

About the passport photos:

Awhile back, NVC changed it that for EP, passport photos weren't needed. This was written on the NVC website. Plus, every time the case complete email was sent out to EP folk, it mentioned to bring the passport photos to the interview.

But, since NVC updated their website a few months ago, this instruction was taken out. And I personally haven't heard anyone getting the extra tidbit about passport photos on case complete emails (for those doing EP).

Throughout this time though, passport photos were (and still are) required by those not eligible or not choosing to do EP.

To xprecious: I believe what you got was a false checklist (although they typically just write requesting the IV package and not list every single document). I think the reason they didn't mention the passport photos is that either they're using an old checklist template for EP that don't require passport photos or it's still not required to send passport photos for EP cases.

Let me stress to non-EP folk: send your passport photos. And to EP folk: send them as well. Even if they may not be required for EP, I'll always suggest sending it. Better safe than sorry.
