Hehe.. I was pissed for a second. But the OP made this account 2 days ago so I don't buy it.

In happier news, the USCIS processing times for us has been updated! They say they're taking 7.4 months as the average!

There will always be 'odd balls out' and statistical noise.

If this becomes a trend, and I-130s start getting approved in under a month on a regular basis, something must have really gone down at USCIS.

However, there have always been fluctuations in I-130 processing times. February 2011 files waited an average of 3 months, while July 2011 files waited 7 - 8 months. We're dealing with a government agency and unpredictable case loads. Things will get backlogged. Once the backlog becomes too large, more manpower is diverted to sort out the backlog, and processing times go back down to the norm ~ 5 month. The best time to file is usually at the height of a massive backlog.

I'd estimate that people who file I-130s today will receive an NOA2 in roughly 4 - 5 months, while the processing times for I-129f petitions will become slightly longer as manpower is diverted from I-129f towards I-130s.

I understand this, however, in this case the backlog was entirely manufactured by the USCIS. The people who were in line first should be getting processed first.

What I am curious about is the flood of I-129F filed to seek the K3 Visa. Anxiously looking to see if anyone gets a K3 through. Or will they be hosed.

I filed for the I-129F to seek the K-3 Visa two weeks ago. I have not received neither a NOA or email confirmation. I wonder if they're backlogged on that too.

I joined a USCIS conference call this week that discussed the I-129F. A number of questions were asked about its use for the K3, and it was confirmed that the I-129F is joined up with an I-130. They sit and wait together, rather than the I-129F speeding along to the NVC. Another VJer posted to a "congressional inquiry" thread a week or two ago with the same feedback. The conference organizers did, however, encourage people waiting 5+ months on their K3 to write to public.engagement@uscis.dhs.gov to inquire about their case status.
