Yes, after a long wait I finally received a green card. No interview either!

Came here on K1 visa and received a green card that expires in 10 years. Expiration date is 07/2023. I thought that first greencard would only be good for 2 years?!

Did anyone else receive a permanent resident card that expires in 10 years??

Because you have the wrong green card.

You are supposed to have the 2 year one and remove conditions in 2 years - you could get yourself in trouble if you dont fix that even if it was their fault.

What Peter_Pan said.... You were supposed to have the 2 year conditional GC, a mistake was made and you got one stating 10yr. If you do nothing and assume, because it was someone else's fault, it will come down to the fact that you should have seen the error and done something about it. By doing nothing, I would imagine that can be constituted as fraud, and thereby if you apply for citizenship, you would be denied and possibly deported and banned for it. As I stated previously, this has happened several times recently, and the consensus is to contact the government to have it straightened out. Besides, you are due to ROC in 2 years, so they will find out, either if you don't file or when you turn your current card in during ROC. You can be honest or lie by omission. That's your decision, but be prepared for the consequences/

If you have been married for MORE THAN two years when the Green Card is issued, it will be a 10 year card. Congratulations, by waiting you avoided the Removal of Conditions.

Your timeline says you were married in 2008. You are fine. Ignorant people responded to your thread and did not check your timeline. You are good to go and do not need to contact anyone.

Three years from the issue date of this card you can apply for citizenship. This is why we have public forums so wrong people can be corrected. You will not need to remove conditions.

Congratulations

The only downside is that you could have been a citizen by now. Oh, well.

No need to get mean. . They stated K-1 in the OP. that is what we were basing our statements on. If that is inaccurate then our info was as well. Not all members have correct info on their timelines.

Now the date in s2kroma's timeline shows 2012-09-21. s2kroma, when did you get married? Did you get married within the last 2 years? If so you should have received a 2 year green card and should contact the USCIS about your green card. If you got married over 2 years ago then the green card is correct. Hopefully you can clear up the confusion here.

Actually we got married last year in September. So this is still under a year. Maybe USCIS found out that we are expecting a baby mid September. dancin5hr.gif
