I just thought I would start this topic as I haven't seen one yet.

I also wanna know the answer to my question out of curiosity and eager to know more things.

How do they handle cases there ?

how does it affects my case if I am from one of the said fraud countries?

Does it take longer than other "low fraud" countries?

I hope some will give advice and post here so other people would see it too and would know what their status in different countries.

great question !

when you utilized the advanced search tool here (not the google search box) - what results came back?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

A friend of my brother who is an immigration attorney in New York City said that the Guangzhou Consulate is the most difficult to get approval for visas amongst all the other US consulates.

So I would venture a guess that as of right now or the past 5 years, China is the worst, or one of the worst countries for fraud.

Makes me nervous as my fiancee has her interview there next month.

This is purely personal opinion, but I think the scale runs:

  • Canada.
  • Any VWP country.
  • The entire rest of the world, in descending order of GNP (the lower the GNP, the more suspicious the consulate will be, by default).
  • Nigeria.

Ecuador is something of an outlier - the US consulate in Guyaquil is apparently incredibly suspicious and difficult to get through, somewhat out of proportion to the country's GNP.

Cases are handled pretty much the same. It's not that they take longer to process (though applicants from the Middle East and North Africa countries are much more likely to get Administrative/Additional Processing - extra security and background checks after their interview that can take weeks or months). It's more like they need much more and higher quality relationship evidence and evidence of meeting, and they frequently need to have the US citizen petitioner present at the interview (or at least in the country).

K-1 Applicants from higher fraud countries will often benefit significantly from including significant amounts of extra relationship evidence with their I-129F petition (a practice called frontloading - do a search on here for the term).

Oh MENA... :( From what I hear Casablanca (Morocco) is one of the hardest embassies to get through because of the high fraud risk. All of the MENA countries are pretty low on the list except, as previous poster said, the ones with higher GDP like the Gulf Countries. They still have to go through AP though.

Previous poster was spot on about how it affects your application-- more need to show a genuine relationship early on. And also the AP process is grueling (cruel and unusual if you ask me) because it is a very long wait with absolutely no communication about what is going on or how much longer it may take. You are completely left sitting in the dark about what is going on.

This list doesn't make sense, as the OP asked to list the highest fraud first. Are you saying Canada has the highest rate of fraud and that Nigeria has the lowest?

For sure they are not! Sure they flipped it from the OP's original request, but it's still perfectly understandable... its understandable to convert "highest fraud" to "worst" in your mind and that usually translates to "bottom" in a list shown like that... lol. I did the same thing when I said Casablanca and other MENA countries are "hardest" and "low on the list" .. hope the OP can understand that the list is in reverse order but is indeed a proper sliding scale.

Well each embassy is different in how they handle the interview process. A list is of little value beyond feeding your curiosity. You could easily GOOGLE that question and get a list from the WWW.

As for the Philippines, which is classified as a high fraud country, it does not take longer to process the visa than in low fraud countries.

If you click on the link in my signature below, then follow that process you could potentially have your interview completed within 4-6 weeks after receiving you MNL # .... there are some low fraud countries that don't get done that fast!

If you're country is part of the Visa Waiver Program, then consider it to be low-risk for fraud. If it isn't on the VWP then it is high-risk.

If it isn't on the VWP then it is high risk - I'm not sure this is completely true. My husband is from Romania which is not part of the VWP and it is not a high fraud country.

If a high fraud country National interviews in any low risk country it will also be rough. Just because he/she is in another country with a residence permit does not

make it any easier. The embassy will revert to extreme caution and perhaps place the beneficiary in lengthy AP.

Keep that in mind !
