Just stopping by to see how all the same sex couples did from two years ago after the defense of marriage law went down. What an exciting time it was. I was married in April, 2014 and now we are on the last step of removal of conditions. Damn, it went by quickly since the wedding. Prior to that was so slow with the waiting and the worry.

We hope to have the permanent green card by Christmas. Next step will be to see if the husband wants USA citizenship. If he decides to take it he will have to sacrifice his birth citizenship. I am not sure if he is prepared to do that.

Good luck to you guys just getting started.

Immigration is just working quietly in the background now, instead of being a daily worry like it was before DOMA was struck down. Confident I will get my permanent GC in the next month or two, followed by citizenship as soon I am eligible. Hope all is well with everyone else in this process!

I am sure that since you have been together for so long that you have plenty of evidence to support your case. I wish you the best of luck. My husband and I had a great experience with USCIS in Texas. We were treated with respect, and the officers were professional and friendly. At that time the law was sort of new, but at least now they have had time to get used to applications from same-sex couples. Good luck!

We were married in March 2013, and filed the day after DOMA fell. We are now in that black hole called the Vermont Service Center. Our I-751 filing group (April 2016) of about 100 people has just had our first approval - but she was at the California Service Center. Still, a 5 month approval for an I-751 is top speed.

We actually anticipate that we'll be filing for my spouse's citizenship before we get the 10-year green card.....

Maybe they'll surprise us. Not holding my breath...

Hi Sukie ---how do you get the filing group information? We also filed in April 2016 for removal of conditions. I have nowhere to look as far as tracking status. USCIS website only says "case received." thx

Mabuhay! Each month has a forum - and our month also has a Google spreadsheet. Search for "I-751 April 2016 Filers". And here is the link to "our" spreadsheet...
