Died a natural death like the rest of the nonsense they spout. I am surprised fraudsters get through this process but hey the USCIS is made up of humans...;-(

I could not imagine ANY straight person pretending to be gay....I know what kind of effort it was for me to pretend to be straight!

As my grandmother would have said, "Consider the source...."

What IS an interesting fact is that same-sex couples are considered "de facto" (we'd call it "common law") couples in Australia as of 2009. But being considered a "legal" couple (albeit unmarried) came with some surprises. Let's say there are two women - each single mothers with children. In Oz, each mother would get a stipend from the government for her children. But by being a "legal" couple now, they are assessed as a married couple - and they lose their stipend because they are no longer "single" parents.

It affected lesbians more often than gay men, since the mums usually had the kids.

I have an Australian green card equivalent. When my spouse and I file our Australian income tax, we are not allowed to have any "married" deduction, but we are required to report the other's income on our own return.

I am thankful for Australia's stance on letting me immigrate based on my "de facto" relationship, but I wish Oz would get off the darned pot and let us be legally married there instead of just in the US!

  • 2 weeks later...

I checked USPS website today and was able to verify that CSC received my application to remove conditions on the GC this morning (11:10 AM to be exact).

My AOS took 3 months. I've been reading other posts and it seems that ROC takes much longer and in fact, for some, they haven't received their 10-year GC more than 1 year after filing ROC. Why is that?

USCIS must have worked a bit faster since my AOS. Mine took over a year... in fact, I was a bit too confident so I was late to renew the EAD and had to stop working for a couple of weeks due to the gap... lesson learned about reading too much into the timeline. I think I was one of the last AOS filiers of that month to get approved (without interview). Now I have another 6 months before the ROC window opens, and another 8 to 10 months wait... good luck all.

[EDIT: Good thing I entered everything into my sig and timeline... from AOS app to GC Approval was 16 months for me, sigh...]

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share that I've received my 10-yr green card a few weeks back. Filed my ROC with CSC, got an RFE and a week after filing our RFE we got a reply congratulating us for my ROC with no interview needed. It took a while but in all, had to wait about 8 months with the RFE. We live in Houston, TX.

My advice to anyone in the process of filing: Overwhelm them with a lot of evidence! Especially financial records that show both of you sharing or using the same account/s. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations! We are sending our ROC to the VSC on the 17th of November. According to the latest numbers, we will be waiting almost a year for them to process it. I think we will file for Citizenship before we get the 10 year green card. Best of luck to all in this time consuming process.

Hi Zuluweta! Yes about six months. Around month two i started checking the status daily just in case.....6 months of staying occupied with many things but mindful of what was happening in the background.
