Do we need it? The instructions say only if you are self employed, which I am not. Aren't they interested in current income, not last years income?

They are the best and are free.

I have the transcripts and have scanned them into my computer. Hopefully they don't have to be originals(our interview is on the 23rd)

That should be enough. The transcripts are copies by themselves as well (no signatures or seals to worry about), so no worries on having the scanned version to print some place else.

They want to see consistancy which the tax transcripts will show along with your current income proof. You will need the tax transcripts, the last three years worth, for AOS and ROC so it is best to have them on hand. Most people follow the instruction for the I-864 form when completing the I-134 as it does state that the Embassy/Consulate can use those requirements.

We had three years worth of tax returns (transcripts), about three months worth of pay stubs, a letter from my bank, and a letter from my employer. We had not problems with the aConsulate in Almaty. Where will your interview be Astana or Almaty?

Good luck,

Dave

Many times the requirement for the tax return (or transcript) are in the embassy instructions letter, not the I-134. With Manila the embassy lists a tax return in their instructions as required, your embassy letter may do the same - that is where to check if required.

U need affidavit of support of 2010,2011 and 2012 years, just in case for K1 you need ONLY originals

Tax transcripts are just printed off copies from the IRS. You can make copies of the transcripts the IRS sends you. A copy of the transcript is perfectly acceptable and one may not even be to tell the difference from the one you received from the IRS and a copy you make of it. The only thing that needs to be original is the signature on the I-134 form. Also, unless the consulate specifically states they want the last 3 years, or you are self-employed and wanting to prove steady income, only the most recent year's tax transcript is needed along with letter from employer and/or pay stub(s) for proof of current income.

first of all congratulations to you guys..I am sure it was worth the wait. I can not wait myself. Sasha and I are eager to get our lives on track. My question is that I have lost my job from the Sequester. I made over the poverty level already for this year. However I am now on Unemployment and I also get VA disability that put me over the current poverty line. I am just concerned that this maybe an issue since we are filing the documents this month. I am looking for a job but have not had any success yet. Can this BE A POTENTIAL problem?

I know this is an outdated thread, but what do you do when you don't have a tax transcript available? I requested one for 2014 and it says "We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are not able to process the requested transcript at this time." What is my next option?

Is this an issue that can be done on the phone with them? Their website says you can call them or go to the field office, so if I can call them that would be better.

And another question. Can I get a tax return for 2014 instead of the transcript if I for some reason cannot get the transcript? This is for 2014, so this is not the most recent tax year. Plus I have a co-sponsor.

Well I called and for some weird reason with the million questions they asked me, they couldn't verify my information. They told me to fill out a 4506t, so I'm gonna try that route and if that doesn't work, then I'll go to a field office.
