Hi yall......my husband immigrated to US about 1 month ago and still no GC in the mail. We did not know about the $165 fee to be paid for the GC....not sure how we missed that. Anyway, I am not trying to get on ELIS to pay the fee. My question is .....Am I using the IOE number or the GEO(our original case status number) where it says DOS? I tried with the IOE but it's not taking.....

Anyone had this issue?

I think I used the NVC case number. You will also need the Alien number, also called A#, which is written on a piece of paper given by the embassy after the interview. I had to add a zero in the beginning of my A number because on paper it did not have enough digits. Worked like a charm. On the actual green card they have added the 0 themselves.

Hi, I just got my IR-1/CR-1 visa and am about to pay the production fee through ELIS. So I have a question now. Exactly how does the immigration and green card production process go? At the embassy I was told I enter the US using my single-entry immigrant visa and while there I'll need to start the green card production process. However I heard of many people who had their green card ready and waiting before they even go to the US. So now I'm confused...

No ones green card can be waiting for them before they enter the USA for the first time after obtaining an immigrant visa.

When you enter the USA your visa will be endorsed by the CBP at the POE. When your visa is endorsed it becomes a temporary green card valid for 1 year from entry date. (read the visa.) When you enter the CBP do some paperwork and send your visa package to the USCIS. The USCIS will match up your visa package with your ELIS account and fee. After they do this, which takes from 1-3 months approximately, then they will produce the card and mail it to you.

You can use the temporary green card, aka endorsed visa, to do anything you would be able to do with a regular hard copy green card.

I hope that helps.

I called the NEXUS office, and they suggested coming by after getting physical green card.

Although she said I can still use NEXUS lanes without updating permanent residence information, but I do not like being "randomly selected" for secondary screening.

Hay Guys,

You would need to call USCIS and get a level 2 rep to give the receipt number. Fair warning though, level 1 rep may not transfer you over to a level 2 rep if it's been less than 60 days since POE. There was a recent change in their systems which does not give the tracking information automatically anymore. You should receive the card within 60 days though. If not, then call/make an appointment.

Hi Everyone,

Hopeing for some feedback --

Paid fee before entering US, POE July 18, we recieved SSN in mail a few weeks thereafter, and its a bit past three months and still no physical greencard.

All the system says is optimized and "we began production of your greencard on August 7th and your card is being produced." Or something along those lines.

Any suggestions? Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I mean we have the SSN and the temporary stamp on his passport, so I don't think employment wise its an issue - but sitll, it would be nice to have the card.

Please help.
