My husband and I show up ten minutes late for our interview. no long wait though. we finally get in there and he starts asking us how we met and when he proposed, all the history of our relationship. it seemed a bit rushed, he was a nice guy but seemed like he just needed the facts. he asked if we had any joint assets. we only have our names on the lease together. no joint bank account, was too lazy to add my name and was'nt really interested in doing so. we just shook our shoulders in confusion didnt really get to explain. He asked why I didnt add him to my registration for my car, I told him everything went through the dealership. so all we had was the lease. so he collected the lease, our passports and EAD card, 1-94, made copies and told us the results would be in the mail. so basically he's only on the lease. I'm hoping he doesnt get denied because of that...what do you guys think? they also asked us the yes or no questions from the application

Well, actually everything makes sense and consitent with approval EXCEPT TAKING YOUR PASSPORTS.. If he took your passports he may be cheking some backgrounds or something. They never take passports on approved AOS.. What for?? When my AOS was approved he took only EAD cards and gave us piece of paper saying when we need to apply for removal of conditions and said it is approved..

I'm not trying to be rough on you but this is a serious matter and I always tell people that Immigration DOES NOT play. Don't say that you were lazy to open a joint account. It shows them that you both don't trust each other or it's not a real relationship (Sorry, with all due respect ) Always think of going once before these guys because they are looking for every little detail to deny you. So let keep our fingers cross. Good Luck! And it's not too late to open a joint account if in case they're watching you.

I didnt tell them we were lazy, but I did tell him due to my health issues I've been focusing more on that.

Why did you guys come so unprepared? The interview letter is full of examples of documents that you can bring to support your case. I really hope you get approved, but having just a copy of a lease is pretty weak. No pictures of you? No joint health insurance? Less strong but no copies of receipt of something that you too bought for your home? Anything that shows that you too are sharing a life together can support your case.

Nobody here can tell you if you are approved or denied, the IO is the one making the decision so you need to wait for it.

I told him he was on my health insurance, we had our marriage certificate, we had pictures, copies of bills in his name. we had a lot of stuff but he only wanted to see joint assets.

first, it's not normal for an AOS case , adjusting from a K-1 visa, to have an interview for the AOS.

An interview is needed if the casefile submitted seems scant or if there are red flags.

During the interview, one gets an opportunity to present more evidence and rebut the red flags.

Second, since you actually got pegged for an interview - you should have brought a pile of evidence with you. I think it strange that the interviewer was using rules of adjudication from a ROC case, though (these are different than just the AOS rules, fwiw)

so .. .

either lack of prep, lack of evidence, or red flags - that's why you were pegged for an interview in the first place.

As to finding out more - call the USCIS National Call Center every few days, ask for casefile status, using a telephone, getting a human.

Good Luck !
