I just spoke to someone at USCIS and they told me that our case was originally at the CSC, but was then transferred to NBC and then on Septmeber 12 was transferred back to CSC. I told the agent that I never received anything in the mail about the second transfer and only received a text message. He told me that one was probably not coming, but didn't explain or know why. Our application was originally filed on August 27 just to give you an idea of how quickly our case was transferred twice in roughly two weeks.

If it helps to know I am still in the US and my wife and stepdaughter are living abroad. I know there were some US citizens living abroad and thought that may have been the reason and I wanted to let you know they are doing it to the locals as well.

Maybe this information will help some of you.

Thanks Lee b, just trying to figure if there is ANY rhyme or reason, or if it is simply due to over-load :) I read on another forum that someone contacted NBC and they told them not to worry. It actually will speed up your process. How accurate that info is who knows.

our case also sent to uscis-nbc. hope that vermont is too busy is the answer. looks like alot of I-130's were sent there. just wish the uscis would say "vermont has too many I-130's to process so we are sending some to lee's summit" now how hard is that for a response?

Mine also, I filed I-130 on 9/20/2012, and revived NOA1 on 9/24. After that they sent me a transfer notice (to NBC) on10/1, and the case status updated again on the wed site said was transferred and being processed at a USCIS office. I want to know what happened? And where is my case filed now,NBC or the local USCIS office?

Guys all of those of you who have your cases transferred to NBC, do you have MSC codes?

If so, have you been able to check your status online? Mine shows up as not existing, quite a few days after our NOA 1 :( The service center said a lot of them won't show up in the system...

The original receipt number you got from the first service center is the one you will use. After your case gets to the NBC they are transferring it to the local office in your area. I was told to use the 5 month processing timeframes the USCIS has on their Web site as a guideline. When I enter my receipt number I use the WAC prefix and it shows it to be in initial review.

Hmm sorry I guess I explained that wrong, our NOA came from NBC.. it went straight there, so unfortunately we have an MSC code!

I'm not sure why ours went straight from Phoenix lock bock to NBC..

I am not sure either but all the service centers that process I-130's have a 5 month timeline posted on their website for processing right now so I am using that timeframe as an informal guide myself and if it happens sooner then it will be a pleasant surpeise. Are you filing from abroad?

No, however we requested an expedite at the time of filing due to my husband's upcoming military overseas change of station.

However, it turns out this was a double edged sword. Any normal service center would take 5 days to respond to our request, however we were told with it being at NBC that it would take 2 weeks. It's frustrating as we can't even check the status online due to having a MSC number.

I knew this process would be frustrating, having studied immigration law as part of my law degree, but I didn't expect it to be this frustrating! It's extremely stressful having military deadlines to work with at the same time!
