I just received news from my Marice in the Philippines. A former boy friend told her she needed to get checked because he had Herpes, she did the test came back positive. It does not change how i feel for her or my plans.....will this effect the k-1 or k-3 process?

Herpes is not really a big deal, as long as it's not active (meaning that you get breakouts/sores). There is medication to control it. In the US, 1 in 4 people has herpes. Most don't know because it doesn't become active. If your girl didn't know she had it, then it's probably dormant, so you really don't need to worry about it. But you should confer with a doctor.

It won't affect the visa eligibility.

I am thinking of bringing her here on a visitors visa to get treatment here in the US and a second opinion a lot of the medical there in the Philippines leaves a lot to be desired as we know. During her time here I think I will use it to get to know her completely. I don't care she has it and I want to get her the best treatment possible. When the guy first told her she would not talk to me for a week because she said she thought I would not love her anymore, I told her she was stuck with me! LOL I told here if it did make it where she could not come here I would move there to the Philippines to be with her. She is the light of my life. I have started filling out the K 1 paperwork and when she gets here after a month or two we will try to file for the k1. I know it is possible it could be denied but that is a chance I have to take to get her proper treatment. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't affect the visa eligibility, considering people in the US also get herpes. Just that she needs to get treatment to prevent/shorten breakout times and you can also protect yourself from getting herpes as well by abstaining from sex during any breakout that she has. Be aware that she may also infect you with herpes.

There are some problems with your path.

1. it will be near impossible for her to get a tourist visa , even to seek medical treatment in the USA.

2. medical tourism is big business in Singapore - why not send her there for a bit, instead? Visa for medical trip much easier to get there.

3. 'try to file a K-1 after she gets here' - I assume you two never meet before? Her chances of getting a tourist visa into the USA are next to nil, and if you are basing 'face time' solely on her trip into the USA, to be that 'first face to face visit' - you're in for a sad disappointment.

Going forward, I suggest you use your time, perhaps this weekend, to research exactly what it takes to get a tourist visa to the USA, and why most folk in the PI don't qualify. Then, refactor your plan a bit (or a lot), based on your research findings.

Good Luck !

I agree with Darnell

If she manages to get a visitors visa, how will she demonstrate she can pay for the treatment?

Plan on visiting her - not her coming to the US

Good luck
